Read Across America Week
Other ways we will celebrate reading this week:
DVHS students who are members of DECA will be coming to Newton Collins Elementary on March 2nd to read with students.
This week, when students are “caught” reading outside of class, they can earn a Roo buck!
This week in honor of Black History Month the following athletes were spotlighted: Serena Williams, Venus Williams, Jackie Robinson, Stephen Curry and Emmanuel Yeboah. We highlighted their accomplishments, struggles, and contributions to society.
In kindergarten through second grade students focused on body control by playing Builders and Bulldozers. They also ran an obstacle course to help them understand how to move over, under, around, and through objects. Students in third through fifth grade have begun their FitnessGram. We have measured their flexibility and running endurance. In the upcoming weeks we will measure their muscular endurance with the curl up and push up tests.
