The first graders had fun at our Annual PTO sponsored Fun Run. It's amazing the amount of energy the first graders have. Thanks to all that donated their time and pledges for this fundraiser.

Reading and Writing

We completed our letters and sounds unit by taking a unit test. Results will go home next week. We will begin our new unit learning word patterns and trick words. We use these patterns and words to create a spelling test each week. It's important students practice words each night. Next Thursday we will take our first spelling test. I will send the words home on Friday in their Friday folder.

We have taken Early Star Assessments and AIMS web word fluency tests. These test will help guide me in determining where each student's abilities are.

We have one more test to be completed in October.

We continue to work on our addition strategies. This week we learned about the communicative property. We use counters, number lines, part-part-whole, and pictures to learn our facts. My goal is to have facts memorized.

Don't forget to practice on IXL!
