Monthly Media Moments

News from the Grant Wood School Library

Join Us for Read & Feed Events

Come see Whooooo's been reading at Grant Wood. This month's display features a variety of stories, both fiction and non-fiction, about owls. You will enjoy browsing through these selections at the monthly "Read and Feed" event. On the first Thursday of each month, please come and relax with a good book and enjoy a light snack from 4 - 5 p.m. in the school library. Our first Read & Feed is scheduled for Thursday, November 1.

Kids' Favorites

It has been difficult to keep these selections on the shelves! If you see one of these books come home, be sure to sit down and enjoy a few pages with your child. You will soon understand why the kids can't wait to read them.

Reading Tips

Reading with your children is one of the most important things you can do to support your child's education. Setting aside at least 15 minutes per day for reading will pay great dividends for improving and sustaining reading skills. It also gives your child some quality time alone with you to read aloud or share a favorite story. The following article, found on the World Wide Web, will provide parent tips and ideas for making reading fun and interactive. The Reading Rockets website is a wonderful resource for all involved in the reading process.
