Celebration of Learning
Saludos familias de Woodcrest,
This last week has been busy. Last Friday, fourth grade students visited the high school and enjoyed a day of teamwork and sport at the Track & Field day. It was especially fun to hear our student out chant and cheer fourth graders from Park Terrace, Centerview and Northpoint. It was clear that they have a lot of pride for being a part of Woodcrest. One of the highlights for me was watching our students cheering with and for students from other schools during the high jump. Seeing all our Spring Lake Park School fourth graders together is heartwarming. It was also a good day for making new friends that they will get to know better next year at Westwood.
This Friday, we invite you to join us for the “Celebración del Aprendizaje.” Students, at all grade levels, are focused on finishing projects they want to share with you. We look forward to having families in the building again and to showing off some the learning and growth your child has had this year.
As a parent of a fourth grader myself, I know this is a busy time of year. It can be hard to keep everything organized. Please know that we continue to want to partner with you and invite you to check in with your student and reach out to teachers or any staff as you have questions or need clarity about the next few weeks. We’re all here to help students find success and have fun as we finish the year.
Con gratitúd,
John Franke

Honoring our retirees
Congratulations to the 13 staff members who were honored and recognized at yesterday's retirement event. As a learning community, we gather to recognize their tremendous contributions to our schools and community and celebrate their next steps with them. In total, the retirees have 358 years of combined service to the district!

Fourth Grade Track and Field
Did you know that Woodcrest Spanish Immersion has its very own Prairie Garden?
Yes! Woodcrest Spanish Immersion does indeed have its very own Prairie Garden and all the students play an important part in helping our Prairie Garden thrive and grow every year.
Here is a snip of how the process works:
Kindergarten students learn about our types of prairie flowers and get the seeds out of flowers from our outdoor garden/classroom.They give seeds to first grade students, who make their own starter soil and plant these seeds(inside). Second grade students take the seedlings from first grade and plant them in individual pots (inside) for further growth and complete a flower design project. Third grade students get the plants from second grade, and plant them somewhere in the Prairie Garden, and lastly fourth grade students help get the garden ready for spring. As you can see, they all play an important role!
We want to take this moment to give thanks for all the support we receive from our PTO, parent volunteers, students and staff. It is thanks to their dedication and hard work that we are able to grow our Prairie Garden each year!
