Students received their 13.5-week progress report yesterday. We have only 4 weeks until grades are FINAL in December. Please take a moment this weekend to review all of this information with your child.

Please note - we are NOT using report card envelopes this year. Please keep all documents at home and remember they are always accessible through the parent portal.

2nd quarter Project/Problem Based Learning Unit - How you support your child?

Begin having a discussion with your child about this quarter's driving question. Students should be able to talk about the REAL WORLD PROBLEM and the SIGNIFICANCE of the the real world problem. Use the examples from the appropriate grade level - your child should be using the vocabulary shown.

Student Organized Toys for Tots Drive!

Dear Parents,

My name is Chloe Jones, I am a 7th grade student in Dr. DeMent’s Genius Hour class is doing a toy drive November 18 - 22. I am donating the toys to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. I would love the support of Coleman parents and students to make this drive a success. Please bring new toys between November 18th and November 22. Thank you.

The Gwinnett School of Mathematics, Science, and Technology Applications Available

The Gwinnett School of Mathematics, Science, and Technology is a unique high school that focuses on advanced and challenging studies in the fields of engineering, biosciences, and emerging technologies. Enrollment for the 9th grade class is open to all 8th grade students who are residents of the Gwinnett County school district attendance zone; who are successfully promoted to 9th grade by the end of spring semester, 2020; and who successfully complete an 8th grade math curriculum that is a full unit of Carnegie-eligible Accelerated Algebra I or higher. Students in Carnegie-eligible Algebra I will need to achieve a 1st semester grade of 90% or higher – AND – earn a Milestones (EOC) score in the Distinguished category (minimum scaled score of 92) OR earn a score of 550 or higher on the math portion of the PSAT 8/9 or SAT (test must be taken no later than January 24, 2020). GSMST is now accepting registration applications for the 2020-2021 freshman class. The registration deadline is January 24, 2020.
