Residency Verification Requirement for current 5th and 8th grade students
In December 2022, School Board Policy #200 “Enrollment of Students” was updated. This update now requires the parents/guardians of all current fifth (5th) and eighth (8th) grade students, who plan to attend 6th and 9th grade in the district the following school year, to verify their residency and contact information before June 30th of the current school year.
Families can submit their verification documents through their PowerSchool parent account (PowerSchool Parent Accounts). Each student verification requires two (2) acceptable documents, as outlined in the policy, in their entirety with the address and name(s) clearly indicated. Examples of acceptable documents include:
Deed
Settlement Statement
Current Lease Agreement
Current Property Tax Bill
Current Utility Bill
Current Credit Card Bill
PennDOT Identification Card
Documentation submitted by families will be reviewed for authenticity and accuracy beginning in May and continuing through June. Once your child’s documents have been verified, confirmation will be communicated through your PowerSchool parent/guardian account. Failure to verify residency and contact information by June 30th may result in the initiation of a nonresident student removal proceeding in accordance with Board Policy 202.

May Celebrations
Asian Pacific Heritage Month
Celebrates the histories of Americans hailing from across the Asian continent and from the Pacific islands of Melanesia, Micronesia, and Polynesia.
The month of May was selected to commemorate the immigration of the first Japanese people to the United States, as well as Golden Spike Day (May 10, 1869), which marked the completion of the transcontinental railroad, largely built by Chinese laborers.
In 2021, Kamala Harris became the first Asian American (and first African-American) Vice President of the United States.
We have over 20 million Asian Americans in the United States as of the 2020 Census.
Hawaii has the largest Asian population at 37.2%.
Cinco De Mayo
- It is often confused with Mexican Independence Day, but it commemorates a significant battle during the Franco-Mexican War.
- The official name of the holiday is El Día de la Batalla de Puebla, which translates to "The Day of the Battle of Puebla" in English.
- In 1933, the day was officially recognized in the US, to commemorate the "Good Neighbor Policy" which aimed to establish positive exchanges and relationships with our Latin American neighbors.
- In Mexico, the holiday's most beloved dish is mole poblano, a sauce made with dozens of ingredients including chili peppers and chocolate served over chicken.
- Cinco de Mayo is not a federal holiday in Mexico, but schools are closed for the day to honor it!
