Teacher of the Year: Mr. Joel Brown
Sixth Grade Orientation to PCMS
Sixth grade students who attended Orientation to Middle School on August 12th and 13th participated in several activities. The two half day sessions were designed for students to tour Perquimans County Middle School while also building relationships with faculty and staff members. Students enjoyed one team building activity specifically, called the Marshmallow Challenge. Students competed to build the tallest freestanding building using 20 sticks of spaghetti, one yard of masking tape, one yard of string, and one marshmallow. Our sixth grade students seemed to enjoyed collaborating while building some innovative structures during their orientation.
Exploratory Department News
Reward System
Teachers with the exploratory team have created a reward system which students in participating classes can earn prizes. Students in certain exploratory classes will earn up to two weekly raffle tickets for good behavior. One raffle ticket will be placed in a class raffle (for a smaller prize), and one raffle ticket will go into the larger exploratory drawing (for a larger prize). While classroom raffles will happen at the participating teacher’s discretion, the department drawing will happen at the end of the nine weeks.
Indian Summer Festival Band Performance
The Eighth Grade Band will be performing at the Indian Summer Festival on the morning of Saturday, September 12, 2015. The Indian Summer will take place in downtown Hertford, NC.
