We spoke with Clay Sims, MPSD Director of Operations, about the new water bottle refilling stations being installed on all MPSD campuses. The water bottle refilling stations, which were purchased with government ESSER funds, are a part of the district’s commitment to providing safe learning environments for our staff and students.

Students at Meridian High celebrate Gear Up Week

The Meridian Public School District joins the Greenville and McComb school districts as the only three in the state to receive the Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP) grant, a federally funded program designed to increase the number of students who graduate from high school and succeed in postsecondary education.

Crestwood students participate in Career Week

Crestwood students concluded their study on Community Leaders with a visit from Ms. Robin of Metro Ambulance and Nurse Bertha Brown. Scholars were educated on the importance of EMT's and nurses within the medical field. We are so thankful for our medical heroes!


Guidance Counselor Mrs. Jenkins talked with students about various colleges in Mississippi, military options, and much more. We want our scholars to know that never too young to start thinking about your future! We are being proactive and starting with the End in Mind during College and Career Week exploration!

College and Career Week at Parkview

Students and staff at Parkview Elementary School participated in College and Career Week last week. Students spent the week learning about different careers and college opportunities. Students even had the chance to dress up as their future career choice!

Now Showing: Ms. King's Class takes a virtual field trip!

Ms. King’s class has been on virtual tours this week in reading. They have visited different museums and the Grand Canyon. They had a virtual tour to the movies. The students received first-hand experience. They had to have a ticket to be admitted to the movies. They learned a new vocabulary word: concessions. They were able to purchase items from the concessions stand. They even got a chance to see a short clip of a black and white movie. The students will have to write a persuasive essay about their favorite adventure.

Congratulations to Northwest Middle school leaders, teachers, and students for being this month's Totally Tech-Tastic School of the Month in a surprise ceremony on Thursday, September 23, 2021. The Bulldogs are being recognized for going over and beyond in successfully integrating Canvas and Google Apps in the classroom.

MHS gives back to those affected by Hurricane Ida

Meridian High School students are giving a helping hand to those in need. Due to the number of supplies being donated by the students, the staging area where supplies were being collected had to be enlarged. The supplies were collected to benefit those who were displaced and affected by Hurricane Ida. The supply drive was organized by West Lauderdale High School and other schools in the area participated as well.

“This is one of the first glimpses they (9th graders) will have at Ross Collins,” said Rob Smith, RCCTC Director.
