Mrs. Allison's Weekly News
THIRD GRADE AT RICHARDSON ELEMENTARY
Week of May 19th
COMMUNICATION ARTS
We finished our last ELA DSA yesterday so the remaining parts of our workshop time will be filled with Chinese culture activities. We will be reading, writing, and learning all about China!
Writer's Workshop
Students should have brought home both of their writing assignments---informational and opinion writing. The kids have made a lot of writing progress this year! I was proud of what they were able to do.
Spelling/Word Work:
We'll do a little work with finding homophone pairs this week and making sure we are spelling the most frequently used homophones correctly!
MATHEMATICS
Students will take their final math DSA on Thursday of this week. It will cover all of the learning targets for our geometry unit.
Our final timed drill will be on Friday this week. So many students are working on their division drills! I am SUPER proud of all their hard work!
SCIENCE/SOCIAL STUDIES
IMPORTANT REMINDERS
**All library books are due on Wednesday and the May reading calendar is due on Thursday! Also, please look around your home to see if you have any books that have a stamp "Mrs. Allison's book" in the front cover. If you see any, please send them back to our classroom. These shouldn't have come home. Thanks!
**Field Day is scheduled for this Friday, May 23rd! Hopefully the rain will hold off. Please send your child to school in older "play clothes" and shoes. A towel, water bottle, sunscreen, and change of socks might be a good idea too! Hats are fine to wear on this day as well.
**Congratulations to Hayden Davies who will represent his classmates as a member of student council next year. Way to go!
**Remember, the May reading/math calendar is due on May 22nd! This will allow me enough time to process them to get grades ready for progress reports. Thanks for your cooperation!
**This will be my last newsletter update for this year. It has been such a pleasure getting to know your children and helping them meet their educational needs. Thank you for the partnership this year. You have made the year so seamless. Have a wonderful summer and good luck in fourth grade!
