February 17, 2019 Weekly Updates
Good Afternoon Pirate Families,
Thank you for a great week at SBHS! It included strategic planning, a century club meeting, a ladies varsity victory over White Oak on Tuesday and a JV ladies victory over Havelock on Thursday, strong performances by all of our basketball teams on Tuesday and Thursday and a special senior night celebration. We also hosted a spectacular 'Seasons of Love' orchestra/chorus and band concert Thursday night. Congratulations to Evelyn Wade for being selected for the Jones-Onslow Leadership Conference in Washington D.C. in June. Evelyn was one of four students from Onslow County selected out of 238 who applied. Congratulations to River Caroll who placed 5th at the state wrestling tournament this weekend.
This week is finals in the boro'! No reason for text anxiety or worry because our teachers have done a great job preparing your students. There are a few important reminders for parents and students:
1. Be sure to get plenty of rest and eat a healthy breakfast!
2. Dress code still applies so leave the pajamas and blankets at home please.
3. Please be sure that students are on time and that laptops are fully charged.
4. Please remember that there will be no early check-outs. Students must remain until testing is complete.
5. Students should take laptop and report directly to the classroom they are testing in upon arrival each morning.
This week will also include a teacher workday on Monday, 1st round tournament basketball games on Tuesday at home starting at 5 pm, the spring sportsmanship meeting and project graduation on Wednesday, soccer at home against New Hanover on Thursday and the UNC Model United Nations conference next weekend.
