**Scholarship Information**

National Hispanic Month begins September 15th I thought we can start with the Hispanic Heritage Youth Awards Scholarship:


Overview

The Youth Awards was founded in 1998 by the Hispanic Heritage Foundation. Now entering its 21st year, the Youth Awards honors Latino high school seniors who excel in the classroom and community and for their excellence in various categories including: Business & Entrepreneurship, Community Service, Education, Healthcare & Science, Media & Entertainment, and Technology & Engineering.

Eligibility

  • Must be currently enrolled in high school and graduating in the spring,

  • Must have a minimum unweighted 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale or 7.5 on a 10.0 scale.

  • Must enroll at an accredited higher education institution.

  • Be of Hispanic heritage (includes Spain, Brazil, Philippines).

  • If selected, attendance to regional awards ceremony is mandatory and travel is at the recipient’s expense.

  • Be a U.S. permanent resident, U.S. citizen, or qualify under the DACA.

Award Details

Up to $3,500 per recipient for multiple recipients

**PSAT Test- ALL Sophomores on October 24th**

Mesquite High School will administer the PSAT/NMSQT© to all of our currently enrolled 10th grade students free of cost on Tuesday, October 24th. Additionally, any 11th grade students who previously registered and paid to participate will also take the exam on this date.


The PSAT/NMSQT opens doors to college. Its unique benefits include free, personalized practice; college application fee waivers; scholarship opportunities; increased access to AP courses; and much more.


Testing for the students who are participating, will begin at 7:30am. Transportation will run two times that morning, once at normal time for those who will be testing that day and then again 4 hours later for the students who are not testing.

MHS Senior Night

Flag Football

This year marks the first season of girls Flag Football in the state of Arizona and our team is having a blast. They are currently 6-3 on the season and ranked 5th in 5A as we head into the final four games of the season. Come out and cheer them on for Senior Night on October 19th when we host Campo Verde. The game starts at 5:00.



Winter Sports


Winter sports are slated to begin tryouts on Monday, October 30th. We offer boys and girls teams for basketball, soccer, and wrestling. Make sure your student is cleared in Register My Athlete prior to 10/30 to ensure they're able to tryout on Day 1.
