The red squirrel is an omnivore, they eat mostly seeds and nuts, flowers, and even sometimes nestlings.

The main threat to these squirrels is loss of habitat by humans, they are not a threat to humans,
Specific Habitat
They usually live in forest or woodland areas, but here at our zoo, they don't even know the difference! They are happy as ever!

Squirrels are classified in the phylum Chordata, subphylum Vertebrata, class Mammalia, order Rodentia, family Sciuridae.
Senses
They have great sense of smell, used for finding food. They have good eye sight as well.
Description
The color of the squirrel is a darkish red brown, with a white belly. They sometimes have tufts of their ears and a long tail to help with balance and warmth in the winter. They have a mass of about 240- 300g. They can be as long as about 10 inches. They have long claws for climbing trees and grasping food.
