The Stinger
May 1, 2023
Dear Families
It’s hard to believe that the last two months of school are upon us. The calendar continues to fill up with opportunities for students both within the school day and in the form of extracurriculars.
The month of April was full of excitement! We had our Musical Aladdin directed by Ms. Desarmia and Ms. Eves. The production was spectacular and the students were fabulous in their roles! Many of us will be humming Aladdin tunes for weeks to come!
On top of the play, we had our basketball season for our Junior students, our running club started up, and recognition of Earth Month and Earth Day. Thank you for continuing to help find ways to support our EcoTeam goals! We also had secondary students from BSS come to Sinclair and provide sessions on Anti-bullying to our intermediate students and our JEDI team has participated in a quilt project. There is so much happening each and every day at Sinclair.
We have much to celebrate at Sinclair, including our amazing office administrator, Lorna Smith, and our teaching staff. On that note, this week is Teacher Appreciation Week. Please consider encouraging your student to draw a picture or write a note to their educator to show how much they are appreciated!
This week is also Mental Health Awareness Week. "When times are tough, we need to be there for each other. We need to practice empathy." Next week, we will recognize our own wellness week at Sinclair with events planned by our students!
It is also a week full of activity with our running club attending the LCVI road race and our own track and field day scheduled for Thursday, weather permitting. Students should be prepared to be outside for most of the day with proper sun hat, sunscreen, and a water bottle. A reminder that our hot lunch day this week is THURSDAY due to the road race.
Looking forward to another great month of learning!
Mrs. Slate and the Sinclair Team

R.G Sinclair is extremely fortunate to hold a fundraising spot with Play! Gaming and Entertaining. The funds raised go towards the enrichment of our students and allows for us to take on big projects around the school. This program brings in more than $10,000 a year for the school. We are looking for volunteers to sign up for a minimum of two shifts a year. A bingo shift is two hours long and you will need to complete a short online training course. Please contact Chelsea Novak, your Bingo Coordinator, at bingorgsin@gmail.com if you have any questions or to set up your training and schedule a shift!
INSURE MY KIDS
School Board Policy states that participation on school sports teams (both elementary and secondary) is conditional on obtaining at least the basic student accident insurance coverage for the student or proof of external private coverage through your family plan. The cost of basic coverage is approximately $17.00 per year. This covers the student while attending school during the school day. The time spent by students participating in school-sponsored teams is considered part of the school day, even if the games and/or practices are held outside of the regular school hours. It is recommended that all parents consider this program. Visit www.insuremykids.com to get this inexpensive and highly recommended insurance.
