How long does it take for a person to digest food correctly?
It takes 12-48 hours for an average person to digest food. Fruit and vegetables take about 30 minutes, but fluid only takes around 20 minutes to digest. Carbohydrates take 3 hours and meat takes 24 hours. All foods and drinks take a different amount of time to digest.
Does it take longer for a child to digest than an adult?
It takes 33 hours for a child to digest their food, so it is the same as how long men digest, but women digest longer. When a girl grows to be a women she will digest her food longer. When a boy grows to become a man they will digest their food the same amount as they do as a child.

After you eat, it takes about six to eight hours for food to pass through your stomach and small intestine. Food then enters your large intestine (colon) for further digestion, absorption of water and finally, elimination of undigested food.
