31 Future Night 6-7:30PMHello Raleigh Hills Families,
Thank you for voting! The Beaverton community showed their tremendous support of children and their education by affirming the Local Option Levy. We want to share a special thanks to our RHK8 community and all stakeholders for your contributions, efforts, and passion for our children and their education. Here's the news for this week.
Beaverton Schools Local Option Levy Renewal Passes by 72%.
Thank you for your support in renewing the five-year local option levy to maintain 300 teachers throughout the Beaverton School District. This means 7 teachers will be maintained in our school for 2018-2019. We are grateful for the strong message the community sent about the importance of our children's education and the health of our Beaverton community.
Optional Parent Input for Next Year
Soon we will start creating drafts of class rosters for next year. Please keep in mind that while we respectfully request that you not make specific requests about which teacher your child will have next year, we do welcome your input concerning the type of learning community that helps your child to thrive. Following this Newsletter we will send out a separate communication inviting parent input. It is not required that you provide input, as our teachers know their students well and will help create thoughtful placements, but we do welcome input if you would like to share it.

Safe Routes to School
As you may know, Beaverton School District received a Safe Routes to School grant. The purpose of program is to make walking and rolling (biking, scooting, bus) to school safe, convenient and fun. Many schools have made huge progress!
One of the requirements of the grant is to get some information about how your students are now traveling to school and what their parents think about the routes to school. We get our data through two methods that we need your help with:
1. Travel Tallies are paper sheets that go to all classes in all schools. You will be receiving an envelope next week with enough Travel Tallies and Instruction Sheets for all your classes. This should be done on two days the week of May 7.
2. Online Survey The following link was generated from the National Safe Routes to School Center and will be combined with classroom travel tallies to give us a good picture of how students are getting to and from schools throughout the district.
The school’s survey will be open for responses for three weeks starting May 1.
We appreciate your help in giving us information to make our program effective for all Beaverton School District students.

Box Tops
Bring in those Box tops! We've raised almost $850 so far but let's make it $1000 this year. The last submission date for this school year is quickly approaching. You have until May 22nd to get box tops to school so they'll be included. Put them in the box in the office or in envelopes in teacher's rooms. Thanks you for helping with this fundraising effort.
Next Parent Coffee with RHK8 Administrators Please note Date Change
Our next Coffee with the Principal and Assistant Principal has been scheduled for Friday, May 25. We will host this event in the library in English starting at 8:30am. Then at 9:30 we will host the Spanish-speaking parent coffee.
I hope you all have a nice weekend!
