Ney Library News
What is Happening in the Ney Library?
Kinder-2nd Grade: Lessons from now until Feb.5th will encompass reading as many Name That Book Titles as we can possibly read. Students will be quizzed on Feb. 5th on the titles that I have read to them. Winners of this competition will become our campus representatives for Name That Book.
3rd-4th: Students interested in being a part of Bluebonnet Reading Club and/or Name That Book will need to work individually on reading the necessary titles. I will keep reminding them to do so. Please remind them at home, too.
3rd and 4th graders will begin learning our new research process, the SOLE Method in library class with me beginning the week of January 11th. This process is a whole new way of thinking with research. It is very student-driven. My hope is that you will start to hear research-based information being discussed by your child at home.
Name That Book Competition is Underway
K-2 students: I will read as many of the 20 titles as possible in library. We will test over the books that I have read on February 5th. The top 6 students will be our official Ney team and will begin meeting weekly after school to practice for the competition. I will let you know if your child made the Name That Book team as soon as that is determined. If you are interested in your child trying out for the team, please return the pink letter (it came home the week before Christmas break) to school this week. If you need another copy, please email or call me to let me know.
3rd and 4th grade: I have asked students interested in being on the NTB team to read ten of the titles from the NTB list (I have specified the ten titles on the pink letter that went home before Christmas). We will have a campus competition based on these ten titles on February 5th. The top 6 winners will become our official Ney team and will begin meeting weekly after school to practice for the competition. If you are interested in your child trying out for the team, please return the pink letter (it came home the week before Christmas break) to school this week. If you need another copy, please email or call me to let me know.
