Have a wonderful weekend.
PickUp Patrol (PUP)
GWS will continue to use the web based application called PickUp Patrol (PUP) to help us better manage our dismissal process. PUP allows parents to electronically make daily dismissal changes from a computer or smart phone. If you need a registration link, please email cmullen@mpsd.org.
Aspen Parent Portal
**Extremely Important: Please complete the Student Workflow and Parent Workflow before the start of the school year to ensure we have important updated information.**
New families received their login information the first week of August via email from our Aspen team. Please check your email for your credentials. All families can contact aspen@mpsd.org if you have any questions accessing the parent portal.
FROM THE PTO
What does the PTO do you may ask? Well, we are a small nonprofit organization that raises funds to offset expenses for parents and teachers as well as providing extracurricular opportunities for students! We will hold fun events throughout the year to help achieve our goals, but you can also make donations directly in the form of a PTO Family Membership; the money raised through these donations go directly back to the school! If you would like to purchase a Family PTO Membership click HERE.
We are excited to begin the planning of this years JOG-A-THON. T-Shirt sizing forms went home with your student this week. All students and staff receive a T-Shirt courtesy of the PTO. For a $10 donation you can add your family’s name to the T-Shirt as a thank you for your additional support, follow the link HERE to add your name!
Based on the feedback received from our survey October 15th is the date to save for our first PTO parents’ night out. Please join us at iGolf in Pembroke for skeeball, shuffleboard, foosball, corn hole, air hockey, and more! It’s sure to be a great night! The cost is $20 for single ticket or $30 per couple (golf bays to be reserved separately). Click HERE to purchase tickets!
Thank you in advance for all of your generosity and support. The GWS PTO looks forward to making this year great for all, and we hope to see you all at iGolf!
From The Nurse
The following state-mandated screenings of students will be completed this year. I will begin next week and will complete the process as soon as possible. I will notify you by a written notice and a telephone call, if indicated, should there be any failures or concerns regarding the results.
Grades 1 through 5: Vision Screening
Grade 1 through 3: Hearing Screening
Postural screening for grade 5 (usually done in the spring)
Grades 1 and 4: Heights and weights with BMI calculations per DPH regulations effective April 2009 (note grades K and 4 are years in which physical exam required).
A parent/guardian may opt out of these mandated screenings only through written notification to the school nurse.
These are only screenings and NOT a diagnostic service. Failures or concerns regarding the results will warrant further assessment by the child's physician. Specific recommendations will be sent home in writing.
The Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) requires that children be immunized at specific intervals during their school years. Please consult your physician regarding your child's immunization status or contact me to assist you with questions.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me, Courtney Powers, at 781-319-3935
