Week 5 of Term 1

Dear Ross Families,

We had a busy week at Ross with our first Cross Country Meet for our student athletes and the launch of our academic support and enrichment classes. Follow all of our STEM adventures on Instagram! Ms. Sawyer is the POC for this account.

Girls on the Run (GOTR) has a Dupont Team and is now expanding to accept 2nd graders.

Will Your Child be in the Class Picture?

Please note that if you completed the DCPS Consent Forms upon enrollment and DID NOT give media consent, we are unable to take photos of your child on picture day for the class picture and the yearbook. We are also unable to allow your child in any class/school photos of events, field trips or for posting on our weekly updates, school website and social media.

If you wish to change your consent form response, please find a blank form attached to this communication. We will also have hard copy forms available at arrival gates and in the main office. If you have not yet completed the consent forms, please do so or the same restrictions apply.

Freed Photography will be taking individual and class pictures on Friday, October 1. At Ross, we take pictures outside in the garden.

Please reach out with any questions.

Parent/Teacher Conferences

Parent/Teacher Conference Day is Thursday, October 7. Conferences will be held virtually.

Teachers will post conference sign-ups in their Weekly Bulletin. All DCPS schools complete beginning of the year diagnostic assessments for reading and math. The testing window closes right before conferences and you will receive your child's data prior to the parent conference. It will be sent as a hard copy in backpack mail. If your child will receive extra small group support during the school day, you will be notified by email from Ms. Adams, School Psychologist.

Health and Safety

DCPS has tested over 12,000 students and the positivity rate is less than 1.0% Let's continue to keep our community healthy by ensuring children are wearing well-fitting masks and only attending school if they are healthy. Please do not send your children to school if they are ill or displaying symptoms. If you answer "yes" to any of the "Ask, Ask, Look" health screening questions, that means your child should not attend school. If your family has a positive case, or is a close contact and needs to quarantine, please reach out me directly. As Principal, I am the COVID POC for Ross. When we have a case, we will follow all guidance and protocols from OSSE and DCPS. Protocols can be found here.
