Hello Sundance Families!
It was so nice to see everyone at our Friday Flag and Principal's Coffee this morning! Today we recognized students from our Chess Club & our Chess Master, Eric Marquis, Math Olympiad Team & our parent leader, Asawai L., and students who completed 100 miles during running club & parent leader, Chiyo P. Thank you to our amazing volunteers for leading these amazing opportunities for our students. Earlier this week leaders from the Korean National University of Education toured our campus and classrooms. They were impressed with our sense of community, focus on inclusive practices, and providing students with voice and choice throughout the day. I'm happy to share that Ms. T, current librarian long-term sub, has accepted a position at our site beginning on Tuesday.
We have a few exciting events next week including our 5th grade performance, volunteer breakfast, Book Sale, and family luau! Looking forward to seeing you throughout the week!!
Helpful Information (NEW):
- Book Sale: Interested in expanding your home library? Stop by our Used Book Sale on Thursday, June 1st, at 12:25pm in front of the school. Everything is a quarter and will benefit our school library!
New Math Curriculum: We are excited about our new math curriculum for our K-5 students that will roll out next year. It is called Illustrative Mathematics and is a problem-based curriculum aligned with the curriculum that is already in place at our middle and high schools. Check out our PUSD Parent and Student Canvas Resource Site! You will find helpful resources to learn more about what a problem-based curriculum is, supporting materials, and videos!
Art & Music in Schools Prop 28 Updates: This is an annual funding our school will receive and must be used during the school day. During our upcoming School Site Council (SSC), we will discuss funding music (currently funded by Foundation) and art (new to Sundance).
SSC Meeting: Join us on May 31st for our final SSC meeting of the year. We will discuss our Single Plan for Student Achievement and Prop 28.
Have a nice weekend,
