Entomology Workshop
Wilderness Wonders Camp
June 3rd will be a one-day camp for youth currently in K-2. These youth members will be challenged with their own set of survivor skills from 9 am until 2 pm at Camp Norwesca. This camp is limited to 25 youth and will have a $30 fee. Youth will need to bring their swimming suits and towels to the June 3rd camp. The camp application can be found at https://extension.unl.edu/statewide/northernpanhandle/4-h-event-calendar/.
Applications are due to the Nebraska Extension-Box Butte Office at 415 Black Hills Alliance, NE 69301 by May 14th. Please contact the Extension Office if you have any questions. Apply for a 4-H Council Camp Scholarship to help pay for this camp.
LOG N Camp
Kick off your summer right by joining Panhandle 4-H staff at the LOG N Camp at Halsey State 4-H Camp on May 25-26th. During this camp youth in grades 5th through 7th will get to experience the TRUST course, go canoeing, travel down the zipline while learning valuable leadership skills to take home with them. The fee is $85. Scholarships may be available from the 4-H Council!! Contact Melissa Mracek at mmracek2@unl.edu for more information.
Design Camp
Panhandle Best
The Sioux County 4-H Shooting Sports members have been busy competing at the local Panhandle Best Competitions. Competition results can be found at Orion Results Center. The Kimball shoot has been changed to a virtual/remote manner. Participants should have received targets at the Alliance or Ogallala shoot. They are to be completed from February 17th through March 4th, and mailed by March 5th to Sherry Winstrom 805 W 5th, Kimball, NE 69145.
The shooting sports members have participated in the Scottsbluff and Box Butte County Matches. At the Scottsbluff Shoot, in the Air Rifle Sporter discipline: Baxter Reece placed 5th, Boone Button placed 6th and Jaime Turbiville placed 4th. In BB Gun: Tilton Button placed 2nd, Chisum Pelster placed 1st, Victoria Turbiville placed 4th, Boone Button placed 8th, and Baxter Reece placed 10th.
At the Box Butte Shoot, in Air Rifle Sporter discipline: Chisum Pelster was awarded 2nd, Boone Button placed 5th, Baxter Reece received 6th, and Jaime Turbvilled received 4th. In BB Gun: Tilton Button received 3rd, Chisum Pelster also received 3rd, Victoria Turbville was awarded 5th, Baxter Reece placed 7th, Boone Button received 9th, and Jaime Turbville placed 6th.

Multicooker Family Zoom workshop
This zoom workshop will take place on April 15th from 5:30 to 7:30 pm via Zoom. Please register by April 9th by contacting Melissa Mracek at mmracek2@unl.edu.
4-H Camp Scholarships
4-H members can apply for a camp scholarship to help pay the fee for them to attend a camp this summer. Camp scholarship applications are due to the Sioux County 4-H Council by April 15th. Applicants will be notified by May 1st if they received the funding. Families will pay for the camp first and then be reimbursed afterwards. It may be used to attend the local 4-H camps. If you were selected as an Outstanding 4-H member this year or last, you have the ability to utilize your $250 camp scholarship this summer as well. Speech Contest
The Sioux County Public Speaking Contest will be held on April 11th at 2 pm at the Fire Hall. Youth between the ages of 5 and 18 are invited to participate. If members are completing a speech, they must have 4-H be the main component of the speech. Clover Kids do not have a time limit, Juniors must speak between 1-3 minutes, Intermediates have between 3-5 minutes, and Seniors have between 5-8 minutes.
If members would like to create a PSA, the requirements are no longer than 60 seconds. It has to utilize the 2021 theme "Opportunity 4 All" and include the tag line “Learn more about the Nebraska Extension 4-H Youth Development Program at 4h.unl.edu.”

Trailer Bash
Are you in search of a 4-H animal but do not want to travel across the state or pay a ton? Attend the 1st ever Trailer Bash at the Dawes County Fairgrounds on March 27th. At this event at least 30 Hereford pigs, 10 goats, and potentially sheep will be available for silent auction for 4-H members.
