Colt Round Up
August 26, 2018
"...a light heart lives long." ~William Shakespeare
With Appreciation:
- Showering bravos and kudos on our teacher team for putting together an amazing Back to School Night. Your classrooms were welcoming, your presentations were informative, and families left feeling wonderfully about the new school year! Hooray!
- Our campus supervisor team continues to smooth out our lunch time - they are solving problems one at a time and I know that in the coming weeks, we'll have lunch down to a well oiled, fine tuned machine! Keep it up!
- Our office team continues to be amazing - thanks to Pam for keeping us afloat, and to Michelle, and Shannon for filling in while we wait for Miss Tricia to rejoin us (hopefully on Tues., 9/4!). Katy is working hard to get all of our paperwork in order and getting to know our kiddos. We have such a wonderful front line team!
Lunch with Great Colts - starts on Th., 8/30
Please let us know who we should plan to have join us for lunch by dropping their name into this spreadsheet. You can add to this list weekly, monthly, or organize it all at once - our goal is to lunch with EVERY student in grade 1-5 this school year! Help us keep the Positive in PBIS going! :)

Growth = Progress ... Food for Thought
We talked a bit at our opening staff meeting about our site focus on creating thoughtful Systems of Support for our children - ensuring best first instruction, but having a plan when things don't go as expected. Here are some resources from an MTSS and student achievement gurus - Mike Mattos and John Hattie:
- free resources for your PLC to chew on as you ID essential standards and figure out who needs support and how your team can orchestrate making it happen!
- Mattos talking about "how to get insanely clear about learning outcomes and learning objectives" - this is an older video, so remember to frame it with Common Core in mind
- Hattie discussing what makes a teacher successful
- Hattie's top 10 strategies for effective teaching
Upcoming Meetings/Activities:
Please consult the the WAG and Google LCES Master Calendar and Public Calendars for info about what's going on on campus and for extra details. You can access all of these calendars via Google or via the Staff Portal (accessed from the LCES website)
