Principal Message Week of October 18th
We hope you all had a great weekend! Below is the Cougar Connect for the week of 10/18.
Great week last week.
Positive COVID-19 Case last Thursday:
You should have all received a notification regarding a positive COVID-19 case on Friday morning. Anytime there is a positive case on campus our whole school community will be informed via email and text and close contacts will be informed by phone, email and text.
Thank you families for continuing to support the safety of your students and your school.
1st Trimester Update:
You should all have received Progress reports this week via mail. Remember students grades are constantly changing and the best way to get up to date grade information is by logging into the parent portal through powerschool or contacting their teacher directly.
1st trimester is over November 12th so students still have time to earn the best grade they can.

UpStream Project
Continuation from last weeks Cougar Connect:
The link below provides additional information about a new program called The Upstream Project. Kennedy Middle School is implementing the Upstream Project with community partners and participating in a study and evaluation of it. The Upstream Project aims to provide better and earlier supports and service connections to students and their families in areas like community services, housing, and school engagement, when needed.
Upstream includes a couple of research and evaluation activities: (1) your child participating in a confidential screening survey on students’ strengths and needs and (2) the school sharing some of your child’s school records with the research team so they can be linked with students’ survey data. The Upstream Project and research activities only apply to students in grades 6 and 8.
Click the link below to learn more about the Upstream Project and access the opt-out form. If you do not want us to send the survey to your child or share their school records, you may opt them out of either or both by opening this link and completing the opt-out form. If you are okay with your child participating in these activities, you do NOT need to complete the form. Although we will share this form every year, once a student is opted out of these activities, they remain opted out every year, so you do not need to opt them out again.
The form includes contact information in case you have any questions. You may access and complete the opt-out form at this link until October 29, 2021.
