WELCOME SAL DODARO!
NEW WIN GROUPS BEGIN JANUARY 7
INTERIM (MOCK) ASSESSMENT JAN. 29 and FEB. 1
Please know that the next interim/mock assessments are coming up on January 29th (ELA) and Feb 1st (Math)
We will be treating this as the "real deal" - complete with following a 3 hour delayed schedule (for lunch purposes)
Tests and materials to be picked up and signed out in the library, and we will follow all mods and alternate locations
A HUGE thank you to the SLT for creating the tests based on the ELA and Math content taught thus far this year. This administration will not only give students another chance to feel what it is like to sit for a formal assessment, and will let us know how prepared students are for the upcoming state assessments, but will also gauge how students have learned and internalized the topics that we have already taught this year.
Reminder: THREE THINGS TO FOCUS ON IN 2019
1). Authentic, caring relationships with every student
2) Differentiated, data-informed instruction
3) Assessment with timely, actionable feedback
If we are successful with these three priorities, we will truly positively impact every student, every day, in every way.
FACULTY MEETING THIS WEDNESDAY
Please bring about 6 of your recently completed F&P assessments with you to the meeting this week.

Reminder: NO NAME CALLING WEEK January 21-25
As a learning organization, we are compelled to become more aware and inclusive regarding gender roles and sexual orientation; it's a good time to reflect on your own language and classroom practices and consider how they might impact a student who identifies as gay, transgendered, etc. While we have 3rd to 5th graders and this may not be an important topic for all of our students, it can be a very important topic for a few, and the language we use and the examples we set in our behavior can make a world of difference to even one young life.

SPIRIT DAY -- JANUARY 30 -- TROPICAL DAY
IMPROVING FAMILY COMMUNICATION
Please use some technology time this week and next to make sure that your class webpage is up-to-date and more robust and informative than it was before. Janice was going to come to provide assistance this week, but library teacher Heather Goggins has offered to provide assistance to anyone who has questions or needs pointers. You can ask her quick questions on the fly, but she has offered to have a refresher Q&A session next Monday, January 14 between 7:40 and 8:15 AM. THANK YOU HEATHER!
