Welcome Back!
Important Info for Families for the 2021-22 School Year
Dear Glennwood Families,
I am looking forward to welcoming you to the 21-22 school year! CSD’s theme this year is “Stronger Together,” and I am thrilled for all of us to be back together in the building this year. This year we will be fully re-opened, 5 days/week for full academic days. We will be using mitigation strategies. You can review a summary of the key updates for the 2021-2022 school year here and an overview of all our mitigation plans here. I am looking forward to an awesome (and more typical!) year with you here at Glennwood!
Please reach out to us with any questions. Ms. Jill Tolsma is our Instructional Coach and Ms. Karen Hearn is our School Manager. Ms. Tolsma can help you with all things academic and Ms. Hearn handles registration and general questions.
Sincerely,
Principal

Welcome to New Staff
Important Information
Arrival and Dismissal Information
Kindergarten Arrival
Kindergarten students will enter through the front main entrance of the building and walk directly to their classroom. Because parents are not yet allowed in the building, we ask that they say goodbye to their child before sending them into the building. There will be plenty of staff members there to assist our K students in getting to their classrooms. Also, we recognize that for some students (and even parents), this can be an emotional time! It’s usually best for parents not to linger at dropoff time as it may make things more challenging for students as they make their way into the building.
Arrival and Dismissal
Providing a safe arrival and dismissal routine are a high priority for our staff. Please read over the following Arrival and Dismissal Procedures so you are familiar with our routines. As you finalize your student’s dismissal plan, please complete this form so we may plan accordingly.
Throughout the year if there are any changes in your child’s dismissal plans, please fill out this form. Use this form ONLY for dismissal changes, NOT for your child’s regular dismissal routine.
School Supply Orders
Greetings, Glennwood parents! As we quickly approach the start to our 2021-2022 school year, please be reminded that school supplies should be purchased through the PTA website. Due to a significant price saving, we ordered all Glennwood supplies from Office Depot. Each purchase will provide an individualized set of grade-level school supplies for your student(s). The supplies will be in the students’ classroom when they arrive on the first day of school. You also have the option to donate a kit to make sure each student has access to individual supplies.
To order, visit the PTA website and select the grade level kit you are purchasing. To purchase your supplies, visit Store – Glennwood Elementary PTA (glennwoodpta.org).
Please email the PTA with any questions: president@glennwoodpta.org

School Tours
The PTA works to enhance the educational experience of all GL students by supporting teachers and staff, organizing fundraisers for items not covered by the school budget, and planning and hosting community-building events. The main fundraising events are the Read-a-Thon, Fall Carnival, and the Spring Auction. Through fundraising efforts, the PTA supports many offerings and initiatives including classroom libraries, teacher and parent grants, field trips and guest speakers for all students, facility enhancements, and various community-building events. Kindergarten Playdates (In-person)
Glennwood PTA will host a kindergarten playdate as an opportunity for new families and students to connect. This year, students will be able to mix and mingle with their classmates prior to the start of school in person.
The playdates will be offered Saturday, July 24th at 10:00 – 11:00 AM and Saturday, July 31st at 10:00 -11:00 AM for all kindergarten classes.
The playdate location will be at the Glennwood Elementary School playground. The playground is in the back of the school. Parking is available on school grounds. We hope you will join us if possible! Popsicles will be served.
*Please note, these playdates are completely optional.
Weekly Communication to Families

This year we will have 3 parent vacancies on the SLT and will have the SLT election in late August. If you are interested in filling one of the vacancies, please complete this form.
