Continuing On.....
On November 22, Anwar Sadat made efforts to extend a hand to Israel. No Arab country recognized Israel's right to exist. In 1978 Carter invited Sadat and Menachem Begin to Camp David. Carter offered for Egypt to recognize Israel as a legitimate state and In return, Israel would give Egypt the Sinai Peninsula. This was known as the Camp David Accords.
Israelites and Palestinians continue to fight. The Palestinian's start an uprising called the Intifada. These uprising involved shooting, rock throwing, and use of explosives. Israeli and Palestinian officials agreed to meet and talk for peace. Palestinians agreed to end violence if Israeli agreed to grant self rule in Gaza Strip. This was called the Oslo Peace Accords. Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin signed the treaty in 1994 . Later Jordan and Israel sign a treaty. Arab and Israel Conflicts today have not decreased even though Israel has had many new prime ministers such as Ariel Sharon.
