The September Book Club had a wonderful turnout and was so fun! Students read I’ll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson and met during lunch to create book-inspired clay sculptures with Art Teacher, Mrs. Dean. Thank you, Mrs. Dean! All students are welcome to join us this year. Our November Book Club selection is Lies We Tell Ourselves by Robin Talley. This book is a PA Reader’s Choice Nominee and Teen Top Ten book, and you can find it on your OverDrive app.
This past month, I have been working with 12th grade English students on their Middle Ages Research Project. They have been using a variety of sources to compile information about their topic. They will present this information to their class to build background knowledge on the Middle Ages in England in conjunction with reading Beowulf.
New this month, we have access to Ancestry.com and its partner resources. You can find access here: http://rtsd.libguides.com/Databases Scroll to the bottom of the page, and look on the left-hand column. Access is available in school only, throughout the computers and iPads in the district.
Ancestry K-12: Ancestry™ is the world’s largest online family history resource home to billions of historical records, millions of family trees and much more.
Fold3: Fold3 provides convenient access to US military records, including the stories, photos, and personal documents of the men and women who served.
Newspapers.com: Newspapers.com is the online home of 80+ million pages of historical newspapers from 3300 newspapers from around the United States and more.
Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Mission and Philosophy
Mission
The library media center is central to the learning process occurring in schools. Its program is designed to produce students who are information literate. Information literate students are effective users of information in a variety of formats. The school library media center is the vehicle that provides opportunities for students to attain information literacy and to foster a lifelong interest in acquiring knowledge while following their passions. A student-centered program is dependent upon a school librarian assuming a pivotal role in working collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and others direct to the program.
Philosophy
The school library media program in the Radnor Township School District will prepare students for their roles in the technology-driven global community of the 21st century by teaching students to find and use information efficiently and effectively. The library program will help students develop lifelong reading and learning skills and the motivation to take responsibility for their own learning.
