WEDNESDAYS IMPACTED
Principal's Message
Hello Families,
Here we are, already in October. September was a very different beginning to a school year. We had many plans in place to start the year, we then revamped plans, and even made minor changes in some of them. The best part of this, is that we are in a better place then we were before. Your feedback and partnership has been invaluable. Thank you for your continued communication, problem solving, and support. We are truly One Webster and One Spry Strong!
Sincerely,
Jackie Saunders
Interim Principal
Superintendent's Message

Dear Webster CSD Parents/Guardians,
We end the week together with important news from the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH). NYSDOH has issued updated pre-K-12 guidance related to COVID-19. As Monroe County Commissioner of Public Health Dr. Michael Mendoza tweeted yesterday afternoon, notable among those updates is that children who are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms may now receive testing at the discretion of their health care provider.
According to NYSDOH, following an evaluation by your child’s health care provider (HCP), the HCP may either recommend a COVID-19 test or identify an alternative diagnosis for your child’s symptoms. If an alternative diagnosis is given and COVID-19 is not suspected, NYSDOH requires a doctor’s note explaining that diagnosis before your child may return to school. Full updated guidance for students and school staff members (along with charts explaining it all) is available by clicking HERE. (Note charts A-1 and A-2 as they explain steps for determining if your child should go to school and when they can go back to school if they have COVID-19 symptoms.)
In almost every letter I share with parents and students, I reiterate the fact that masking, physical distancing, and hand-washing are the reason that our area’s infection rate continues to remain at a lower level. Combine all of those practices with a commitment to completing daily health screenings and not sending your child(ren) to school when they are sick -- and it helps all of us stay safe and healthy. I know that we emphasize masking and hand-washing quite a bit, but I would also like to stress the importance of physical distancing for our students. I know it’s tempting to want to give your friend a hug or get too close for those selfies, but again, we must be vigilant about remaining six feet apart. This isn’t easy, I know, but it’s important to remember. Thank you for reinforcing this with your child(ren).
I want to also thank our parents, guardians, and students who are participating in the 100% remote learning model. Your continued support as your child(ren) adapt to synchronous and asynchronous communication from teachers continues to be of critical importance to their education. I always say that parents/guardians are your first and most important teachers...never has this been more evident when I see all that our 100% remote families are accomplishing together. Thank you!
Lastly, the next two weeks are four day weeks for all Webster CSD students as there is no school on Friday, October 9 due to Superintendent’s Conference Day and Monday, October 12 for Columbus Day. As a result, students in grades 6-12 ONLY will have Schedule Exception Days on Wednesday, October 7, and Wednesday, October 14. On these days, secondary students won’t follow the typical mini schedule, but instead follow the schedule for the letter and number in the rotation. Please note that Wednesday, October 7 will be in-person learning for Group 2 students and Wednesday, October 14 will be in-person learning for Group 1 students. For more info and the full secondary rotation schedule, visit our Exception Days news story on the district’s website.
Stay safe and healthy, everyone!
Sincerely,
Carmen Gumina

Quarter 1 Grading Window 9/10-11/13
We can start having students after school in small groups. Students are now able to stay after school for clubs/activities and academic support starting on September 29th. After school activities will be held only on Tuesdays and Thursdays. We will not be running intramurals at this time. We will only be running 2 late busses on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This is important for parents to know that there is limited after school busing. If you can pick up your child that would be helpful.
PARENT DROP OFF AND PICK UP
Please see the maps attached to see where the drop off zone starts, just past the gym doors. Since drop off has gone pretty smoothly, we have moved the drop off area closer to the gym doors. This will get students closer to the doors they need to go in. We will still be asking if you have completed the PikMyKid app each morning. If not, the child will go into the red/white house doors to be screened.
At dismissal, students who are getting picked up are directed to exit the red/white house or gym doors. Pick up will be two lanes to help keep the cars off of Sanford Street and in the parking lot, as well as to help us load quicker. We will now have a loading area that starts at the front of the line and goes up until the gym doors. Students will not be allowed to get into cars beyond this area. With that said, it is important that parents/guardians look out for children and each other, being cautious while pulling into the passing lane after picking up your child/children. Students are also partners in this safety measure by only loading and crossing in the designated area, looking both ways when crossing, and waiting for adults to direct them.
There are many students who walk, ride their scooters and bikes to school too. Students need to use crosswalks and wait for the light to signal to cross, and stay on the sidewalks or side of the road. On some side roads, there are no sidewalks, drivers please remember to drive slowly and stop at stop signs, and always look out for pedestrians.
Bus riders will exit the blue house doors. This will make the flow of students go more smoothly, as well as keep students inside as much as possible on rainy and snowy days.
Maps of drops off and pick up. We have ordered signage for the loop, as well.
Thank you for working together to make this process run smoothly and keeping everyone safe.
Drop off ends @ 8:45 am. After 8:45 am please go the the MAIN ENTRANCE.

Chromebook policy prohibits loaners being given to students who forget their Chromebooks at home or do not charge the battery. Loaners are provided for students whose Chromebook is physically damaged, lost or not functioning properly. For those students with dead batteries, there are several chargers on site for their use, but they have to leave their Chromebook for at least two class periods to charge.
FOOD SERVICE
Your child can check into Homeroom and then head to the cafeteria for a free breakfast of their choice.
Medication/Nurse
Dispensing Medications
The District strongly recommends that all medication be administered to students under the supervision of the nurse. If you must take any prescription or over-the-counter medication during school hours and/or at school-related events, State Law requires the following:
1. A written request from your health care provider
2. A written request from your parent/guardian
3. Medication in a pharmacy- labeled container for prescription medications and original manufacturer’s container for over-the counter medications
4. Medication delivered to the nurse by an adult, unless required documentation for Independent Use and Carry of Medication is on file and approved by the nurse
*You may not store medication in your locker nor carry and/or take medication in school or at school-sponsored events unless the required documentation is submitted to the Health Office. This includes prescription and over-the counter medication, dietary pills, supplements and vitamins. If you carry or use unauthorized medication or share medication with other students, you will be subject to disciplinary action as outlined in the District’s Alcohol and Other Drugs Policy, including suspension from school and referral to the CAP program.

Early Dismissal
• If you need to leave school early, an email (Preferably) from your parent or guardian must be sent to your house office prior to first period. Notes are still allowed, but discouraged to avoid crowding in the House Offices to start the day. You will be given a formal "school excuse" to leave, and your parent must sign you out at the front entrance.
• If you return to school, you must report back to the front entrance and get a pass to class.
• Only the School Nurse can excuse a student early from school due to illness. Students leaving school because of illness must be picked up from the Main Entrance by a parent or guardian.
• No one is allowed to leave during the school day without signing “out”. Any pupil leaving without permission will be considered truant. Parents and Police will be notified.
• Transportation to and from school is provided by school bus, parent, or guardian listed in Infinite Campus ONLY.
