Principally Speaking

Parents, Guardians, and Community,

Wow, have we been busy here at DCMS. NJHS, Student Council and the Builders Club collected items from Nov. 9 to Nov. 23 and collected 3019 items to benefit the Danville Lunch Bunch and Shared Blessings food pantry. As well, this past Saturday about 20 NJHS members volunteered their time to help the Tri Kappa Breakfast with Santa event.

Mrs. Tinkey, NJHS Sponsor says this about her students, "I am really proud of these kids and how they have put themselves out there in the community this year. In the past I have only required 4 hours of service for the entire school year, and this year I upped it to 9 hours per semester. It was a big jump but the students have really risen to the occasion. I have see many shout outs to our group in the past week alone recognizing them for their efforts!"

Next week is a four-day week with students having final exams or final performances on Wednesday and Thursday. It is important that all students be present throughout the entire week. The plan is for teaching and learning to continue through the entire week.

Next week we have Christmas/Holiday Spirit Days for students and staff alike. Students may participate as little or as much as they desire. We do ask that any items worn do not detract from teaching and learning. Should an item become disruptive, it will likely be confiscated and returned at the end of the school day.

§ Monday, 12/14 – “No Sweat Day” – Wear your favorite sweats!

§ Tuesday, 12/15 – “Red and Green Day” – Wear your favorite red and green outfit.

§ Wednesday, 12/16 – “Holiday Hat Day” – Wear your Santa hats, elf hats, etc.

§ Thursday, 12/17 – “Ugly Sweater Day” – Does this need an explanation?

As always, I am so honored and privileged to serve the students, staff, and families of the community of Danville. Thank you for the opportunity.

Marsha Webster

Safety Issue for Car Riders - Help Please!

Parents please pick up your car riders at the school along the sidewalk of the school building in order to keep them safe. It has been reported that some parents are picking up students at the crosswalk as students are crossing from the school property to the sidewalk in Clear Creek. This is unsafe for students and drivers alike and should not occur.

Movie-goers are encouraged to bring dog treats, dog toys, dog food, collars and leashes to donate as they enter the theater.

Ernie’s X-mas Treat and Toy Drive

Does your child have overdue fines in the media center? Would you like to see those

fines disappear? The media center and Builders Club will be giving students an

opportunity to do this throughout the month of December with our annual “Ernie's X-mas Treat and Toy Drive". Students who donate items for this drive will have their overdue book fines deleted in the media center. Those students who do not have overdue fines can still donate items to help out with this drive. All of our donations will be given to Hendricks County Animal Control/Shelter. Please help us give something special to the animals for Christmas by encouraging your child to donate. The following items are needed: cat litter, dog & puppy food, cat food, cleaning materials, and towels.

Also if students would like to donate a special Christmas gift for one of the animals at the shelter they may bring in one of the following: dog & cat treats, dog & cat toys, collars and/or leashes. All items must be new. Donation boxes will be in the media center. We will be taking money donations as well to purchase these products for the animals. Please contact Miss Seegers if you have questions about this program or how you can help.
