Husky Howler
March 5, 2021
Dear Hill-Roberts Families:
Today marks the end of the 2nd term. Report cards will be available through the parent portal in Aspen on Wednesday, March 24th. Specials will also switch starting Monday, March 8th. This means that if your child had PE and Art in-person, they will switch to working in their PE and Art teachers' Google Classrooms and attend health and music in-person beginning Monday.
Superintendent Sawyer will be discussing Commissioner Riley's new guidance and how it might impact our schools at Monday evening's School Committee Meeting. If you are unable to watch it live, you can watch it at a more convenient time via DoubleACS' Youtube channel.
Sincerely,
Frank W. Rich, Principal
Pooled Surveillance Testing
We're thrilled that both of our testing groups came back negative this week.
In order for this program to be successful, we need to have as high a participation rate as possible. As it currently stands, we have 48% of our 1st through 4th graders participating.
If you have previously responded, "No" on the consent but wish to change your answer, you can follow the same steps (see below) and complete the consent form again. This is also true if you have previously responded, "Yes" on the consent but want to change your answer.
For more information please see the FAQ document that was created to answer questions surrounding the pooled testing program. The video below shows a first-grade and a fourth-grade Hill-Roberts student demonstrating the procedure.

This Week in Health
Dear Hill-Roberts families,
This month in health class, students are learning all about heart health. February is recognized as Heart Health Month and your Huskies have been learning about its role in the Circulatory System. We have been focusing on how the heart works in our bodies, what its main job is, how it performs its job, where it is located in our body and the importance of heart health. Students are learning not only how to keep their hearts healthy but also what can happen to the heart and body if we do not make heart-healthy choices. This connects with our learning of the importance of movement/exercise and nutrition choices within the Five Food Groups as well as the effects of stress on the heart.
We continue to practice Yoga and Mindfulness during each class to keep our bodies and minds happy and healthy while reducing stress and anxiety. We continue to practice self-confidence with our practice of "public speaking" where we share with each other the choices we have been making at home and at school regarding "Healthy Habits".
As a reminder, Term 2 Section 2 ends Friday March 5th. This means if your Husky is currently attending health in-person (Kubel, Dileo, Leddy 1st, Lindsey, Laprade, Young, Dalpe and Lombardy) they will be switching to a weekly assignment in their Health Google Classroom beginning Monday, March 8th. If your Husky is currently working in their Health Google Classroom (Bakalars, Camelo, Landry, Puccio, Scott, Amancio, DeGrace and Leddy 4th) their Health Google Classroom will be archived at end of day March 5th and they will begin in-person Health classes on Monday March 8th.
Stay healthy and continue your great work Huskies!
