March 25th- 28th Peak Memo
Culture Collaboration Curriculum
Message From Director
I was talking to 4th grade and one of them said it best. At first you want that "bad weather day" in January but then when it comes in March, we are so happy to have it! Many of you have asked about the result of the parent meeting. The parent meeting was very interesting and the only concerns that were discussed for primary was the concern for safety on playground during lunches. They said that teachers are there, but that they are all in one area and therefore, unable to see all scholars. We shared an easy aggressive monitoring fix, that is highlighted further down in the memo.
We will also meet Thursday to send home some communication to parent regarding the plan and response of their concerns and meet again next Monday at coffee and tea with directors.
Well continue to do what you do and that is work hard and PUSH our scholars for greatness!
Let's nail again where we are trying to land OVERALL as a school with state assessments:
80% Approaches 50% Meets and 30% Masters
This is very doable! Let's dig in even harder the next few weeks with some specific intentionality to ensure our scholars are able to b successful in this manner.
I love you all enjoy the next three days!

IB
This week’s IB Learner Profile is THINKERS and Ms. Barkley’s class will lead announcements. This definition is how IB defines a scholar who exemplifies being a thinker: They exercise initiative in applying thinking skills critically and creatively to recognize and approach complex problems, and make ethical decisions.
Some ideas for morning meetings topics pertaining to the IB learner profile thinkers are:
- We have talked a lot about how reflecting on your words and actions can help you make better decisions in the future. How can thinking before you act and speak also help you make better decisions?
- Have you ever changed your mind about something after you took the time to really think about your idea or choice?
- Why is it important that we take time to THINK about our THOUGHTS? A fancy word for this is metacognition.
- We learn a lot of facts in school and we hear lots of facts at home and on the news. Sometimes, people present facts in order to persuade you to think one way or another about something. How can being a critical thinker help you make meaning about the facts that you hear in order to form your own opinions?
Word Consciousness
This week we will talk about food idioms.

Grading: teachers please ensure that you are keeping up with grades weekly. As stated in our policy , at least two grades per week should be put in the grade book.
