What we NOW know about B.O.B.

  • It is BIG. No doubt about it.
  • Students are adjusting well to the size of the binder.
  • Parents and students are still unclear about what can be taken out and what needs to be left in daily/weekly.
  • Weekly B.O.B. clean outs are essential.
  • Agendas/binder clips are helping students stay organized.
  • Students need to be retaught how to use the B.O.B. after break for a refresher.
  • The homework folder is an effective means to communicate homework.
  • Students have too many NON school items in their backpacks which are making their backpacks heavier than they need be.
  • Overall parent report is positive on this organizational system.
  • Students feel that the B.O.B. is helping them stay organized.


Next Steps

  • Grade-wide reteaching of the proper use of the B.O.B. within the first full week of school after returning from winter break.
  • Replace subject folder labels to "Keep at HOME" and "Keep at SCHOOL" to aid in clarity for parents and students.
  • Counselors/parents/teachers/students commitment to cleaning out the B.O.B. weekly.
  • Encourage students to carry only essential SCHOOL items in backpack.
  • Continue with counselor/student groups to help those students that need more organizational support.
  • Potential student-helper, parent volunteer, teacher mentor to aid with B.O.B. organization for students that need further assistance.
