Inspire every child to discover, learn, achieve, and care.
Principal's Corner
Dear Parents,
Planning for the next school year begins early. Sometimes parents wonder how students are placed in classrooms and if they can make requests to have their children placed in particular classrooms.
We recognize that parents also have good insights into how their children learn. If you would like to request that certain information be considered in assigning a placement, please complete this Class Placement Request Form. The most helpful comments speak to specific insights you have about your child as a learner. Please consider the following guidelines regarding the placement request process:
*Please do not request a specific teacher.
*If you have more than one child, please complete a separate form for each student.
*All information is kept confidential and only read by Dr. Dwyer and Mrs. Sobotka.
*All requests must be submitted by Monday, April 5.
We have an excellent staff, and so it is our hope that you will trust our expertise with the input from your child’s current teacher to determine the best placement for your child for the upcoming school year.
Have a wonderful day!
Dr. Dwyer

SPRING CONFERENCES:
Spring conferences will be held "remotely" on Thursday, March 4 from 4pm to 7pm. Please note that spring conferences are scheduled differently than fall conferences. Your child’s teacher will contact you if a conference is required.
If you have a concern about your child’s performance or if you want an update on your child’s progress, you may contact your child’s teacher. The focus of the spring conference is to summarize the progress your child is making this year.
Many parents are interested in discussing class placement for next year, so we have a separate Google Form for parents to complete regarding class placement. Overall, we welcome the opportunity to talk with you about your child at any time.

MAINE WEST VIRTUAL SCIENCE FEST:
Maine West is hosting a Virtual Science Day on Saturday, February 27!. The Science National Honor Society students will conduct live science demonstrations, experiments, and games with kids over the Internet from 10 am to 2 pm.
Some of the experiments are hands-on! Students can pick up the materials to do them at home. For engineering design activities, students can pick up the materials, and drop off their completed projects, which then will be tested at Maine West while they watch online!
If your students would like to participate, they can just attend online. If they would like to do the hands-on activities, they (or you) can pick up the materials at Maine West on Saturday, February 20, in the main entrance between 10 am and 1 pm.
