DFES 2017-2018 goals and progress toward achieving those goals
Excellent customer service
- Students in grades K-5 have been involved in the planning, data collection, and goal setting of parent conferences held so far. More importantly parents have been invited to share their hopes and dreams for their children both socially and academically during the conferences I am familiar with. Feedback I have received from parents has been overwhelmingly positive.
Effective use of small group instruction
- Last Thursday we held curricular conversations with grade levels. K/1st grade teachers identified phonics lessons that will be incorporated into their shared reading blocks this week. 2nd-5th grade teachers explored and devised plans to organize small groups to include miscue analysis, the what matters list, Dominie-text reading, and MAP data.
- Homeroom teachers just a reminder to share your one step action plan by October 8 as this will help set a focus for classroom observations this week.
Building teacher capacity with environmental education.
- A. Umberger designed flume investigations with 4th grade classes this past week. Students engaged in running an experiment, collecting and recording data, and a chance to apply real-world learning in our community.
Shout Outs
- B. Blackwell on her recent engagement. Wishing she and her fiance' a healthy and thriving marital relationship.
- C. Sommers filled in for both administrators Tuesday and Wednesday for the first time. She successfully and wisely handled a situation for which there was not a script on how to address it. Grateful for assistance.
- Shout out to our SPED teachers and assistants for their flexibility as we have restructured roles and responsibilities to meet the needs of our students.
