Superintendent's Community Update
June 8, 2022
A Message from Superintendent Colleen Burns Jermain, Ed.D.
Dear Newport Schools Parents, Families, and Staff:
It’s graduation week for our Rogers High School Class of 2022 seniors. The students had a beautiful evening on Monday for their prom. Thank you to the Bohlin on Hammetts Wharf for providing such an unbelievable venue. The graduating senior photo banners were put up on lower Broadway and the Thames Street banner was put up as well on Tuesday. Thank you to our great parents for making that happen along with the City and School custodial staff that helped. On Wednesday, the Class of 2022 did the Senior Walk visiting all our schools in their cap and gown to thank all their Newport Public School teachers for their support throughout their school years. On Friday- yes it is now Friday- the graduation ceremony will happen. To make sure rain would not interfere with a great ceremony, we have moved graduation to this Friday at 6:00 PM at Toppa Field at Freebody Park.🎓 Congratulations to all our students on their hard work and earning your diplomas! We are so happy for you! Go Vikings!
Following graduation, next week will be the last of the 2021-2022 school year for our Pell Elementary, Thompson Middle School, and Rogers High School students. See below for early release times next Friday, June 17. We also have included information on chromebooks, lunch accounts, summer activities, and some wonderful art work from our RHS students.
It is a fabulous time of year. There is so much good news and great events throughout our community. It is a time for all families to celebrate.
I want to wish everyone a great week AND…
Congratulations again to our Rogers Class of 2022 graduating seniors! We’re looking forward to a wonderful graduation ceremony on Friday! Go Vikings!!!
Sincerely,
Colleen Burns Jermain, Ed.D.

Vaya vikingos!!!
