TJH Update #20

December 16, 2020

A Message from Dr. Mitzner

Thank you for all the ways you have supported TJH this semester. It has not been an easy semester for anyone but our organization has continued a commitment to Relationships, Innovation and Excellence.

One innovative thing we tackled this Home Base Exam was a contest patterned after Masked Singer TV show. I have included the links in case your family would like to watch our event!

Online Absence Form: Absence Reporting Form

Phone: 281-234-2413

Email: MercedesCFonsecaChavez@katyisd.org

All excuse notes must be submitted within 5 days of absence to be excused.

If reporting technology issues please note it must be reported within 24hrs of the absence in order to be excused. The update was sent on December 11th’s Smart ReStart and December 13th’s KVA Update.

*NEW* KVA Attendance

Effective January 5, 2021, if your student is unable to attend a class period or full day of learning in KVA due to a Technology/Internet/Power Outage, a parent/guardian of the student should notify the Attendance Office of an absence with 24 hours of the absence. The absence will not be updated to excused unless written/phone call notification has been made by the parent/guardian to the Campus Attendance Office.

***For attendance corrections: Please contact the teacher as the first point of contact regarding a student's presence/absence/tardiness in class, especially if you have received an automated call from the District. Contact the teacher the same day if possible.

KISD Virtual Art Gallery

A highlight for staff at the ESC is student artwork displayed on the bulletin boards throughout all of the hallways. In past years parents have been invited to bring family members and tour the art on display, taking photos of their child’s artwork.

This year, rather than family groups entering the ESC, the Fine Arts Department has created a virtual art gallery. The virtual art gallery is a stellar example of how challenges such as COVID can lead to new and improved ways to celebrate student achievement and recognize success of our teachers.
