AMCHS Tiger Tales
March 2015
A&M Consolidated High School
From the Principal's Desk...
Hello Tiger Parents,
The spring semester is well underway at A&M Consolidated High School, and it is hard to believe that Spring Break is near. The students, staff, and teachers eagerly anticipate an opportunity to relax and rejuvenate the heart, mind, and spirit.
During the last six weeks, our students have continued to perform at remarkable levels. Two Presidential Scholars nominees were chosen from A&M Consolidated High School based on their exceptional performance on either the College Board SAT or the ACT Assessment and academic merit. One of our students advanced to participate in the National Science Fair in May. Several organizations have students who will be competing at the state level in May. Moreover, two Business Professionals of America students advanced to compete at the national level in May.
Our Tiger swimmers and wrestlers competed at the state meet, and Tiger Swimming placed in the top 10 as a team and Tiger Wrestling placed in the top 20 as a team. Lady Tiger Basketball competed in the Region 3 finals game—spanning 13 years since Lady Tiger Basketball reached this level. Athletically, our spring sports have been competitive in district play. Tiger Soccer earned the District 18-5A Championship—the first time since 2001 the program has reached this milestone. Lady Tiger Soccer is competing well in district play, too. Tiger Tennis and our Tiger Track programs are doing exceptionally well. Recently, two track records have been broken. Moreover, Lady Tiger Powerlifting qualified two students to compete at the state level, and Tiger Powerlifting will be participating at the regional meet on Thursday.
Numerous students in our fine arts programs have advanced to the state UIL Solo & Ensemble contests in the spring. Our drill team, the Bengal Belles, has performed and received first place in several categories. Moreover, our Speech and Debate team qualified five students to compete at the national level in the summer. This is a testament to the committed students at AMCHS who exemplify dedication, hard work, and excellence.
Our students and staff are working to prepare for a busy spring semester of EOC and AP testing. As we examine our data, we will make adjustments, offer support, and adequately plan to ensure all students are given opportunities to be successful. We will continue our focus on a high quality education at AMCHS and provide a safe learning environment for all students.
As we plan for the next school year, we look forward to embracing our entire student body from our incoming freshmen to our seniors as they embark upon a new chapter in their lives. To help prepare for scheduling next year, I would encourage you to visit with our counseling office to ensure the correct classes are scheduled for your son or daughter. Please spend time with our counselors as we work together to ensure your child is in the appropriate courses to meet his or her needs and future goals. Any changes to your child’s course requests are due by June 12th.
We appreciate your involvement and commitment to AMCHS. We understand that direct parental involvement positively impacts learning, and we are committed to strengthening our relationship with you. Our entire staff appreciates each of you and your willingness to nurture our students and help mold them to become productive young adults—together we will Continue the Journey to Success at AMCHS.
Have a Tigerrific day!

2015 Hall of Fame
The CSISD Education Foundation sponsors the Senior Hall of Fame Banquet which will be held Thursday, April 23rd at The College Station Hilton. About 7% of the graduating class is selected by teachers and staff based on integrity, leadership, positive attitude and school spirit. This is one of the biggest honors a CSISD senior can receive. Honorees then select an educator that has been most influential in their academic careers and write an essay about them. Several students are selected to read their essays at the banquet. Students will be notified of their selection to the 2015 Hall of Fame on March 9th.
