FAQs about Dismissal:
THE BIGGEST QUESTIONS ANSWERED HERE:
1.Why is dismissal not as fast as last year?
Great question! Last year, we had about 300 students for face-to-face learning, and we used two doors. What this means is, there were only about 100-150 students on each side. We sought feedback and realized we needed to separate car riders from parent walk-ups. Parents were walking up to through the car lines and retrieving their child, which caused panic as we are responsible for your children, and it's unsafe. This year, we also do not have crossing guards at this time. We are actively seeking! However, it's NOT SAFE to allow car riders, independent walkers, bus riders, day care riders and parent walk-ups to be in the same location. It's just too unsafe for everyone walking through traffic. We are dismissing over 700 students safely and that's our MAIN PRIORITY. There are about 250 at the front doors (car riders) and about 325 (parent walk-up, daycare, bus, independent walkers) at the back. The others are going to Extended Day, which is at WES.
2. What if my child goes home differently on occasion during the week?
Communicate with your child's teacher. As long as you have the appropriate tags and knows which days are different, your child will be released to you or the designee in the appropriate area.
3. When will I receive the tags?
All tags will begin to go home on the first day of school and there after as we receive new students.
4. What if I need someone else to pick up my child(ren)?
As long as they have the appropriate tags, given by you, they will be released. If they do not and need to come in to the front office, they will need to be listed in Skyward as an appropriate emergency contact.
5. What if I do not have the pick-up person listed as an emergency contact?
The front office and administration will need you to send an email to a specific designee (will let you know during the situation) and include a description and/or ID of the person you have sent. Once received, your child(ren) will be released.
6. May I call and change my child's dismissal?
Per our safety protocols, only emails will be accepted from the email address on file. Please ensure that all dismissal changes are communicated prior to 2:15 p.m.
7. What if I am running a few minutes behind?
All students will be at the front office on 429 Grand Avenue Parkway if late. However, each day, school is over at 2:50 p.m. Please plan accordingly and make plans to pack and come check your child out from the front office.

Tardy and Breakfast
Please remember if you want your child to eat breakfast, it begins at 7:10 a.m.! Full tummies are the way to success and a great start to the day!
Lunch - Free and Reduced Applications
However, It is equally important that households continue to complete and submit free and reduced applications. These submissions are not only used for food services, but to ensure other programs and compliance, as well as qualifications such as household P-EBIT funding, future campus and district programs, and carry-over status from prior year. The PfISD processes have not changed, and the applications are still accessible through the district website. Please click HERE.

Additional Dismissal Information
Car Rider
429 Grand Avenue Parkway. You MUST have the BLUE car tag in view. Please refrain from getting out of your car, as that will slow up our process. We have a system in place and it will go faster after the first two-weeks of school, with your help and support.
We know the car rider line can be a bit long and cumbersome - BUT we need YOU for support. It will go fast as soon as we have been able to practice our system, have everyone remain in their cars and be patient with us. I promise, it's all for the safety of our WES students!
We plan to have one line coming in from Grand Avenue Parkway and splitting into two by the parking lot - so please allow us the time to ensure its effectiveness. We will have two functioning car rider lines to load eight cars per load! We can do this!
If you forgot your car tag, please plan to park and come in to the front office to check out your child. Because at dismissal, we will have all hands-on deck for student safety, it may take more minutes than expected. Please be patient with us and always bring your car tag!
