As we get ready for the start of the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, we are grateful to our school families for their ongoing partnership with us to support our students academically, socially, and emotionally. We hope that you have the opportunity to relax with family and friends during the Thanksgiving break. A reminder that school will dismiss today at 1 p.m. will reopen on TUESDAY, November 30th. Monday, November 29th is an in-service day for teachers, so there is no school that day.

Hanukkah begins at sunset on Sunday, November 28th and concludes on Monday, December 6th. This holiday, also known as the Festival of Lights, is celebrated in the Jewish community by lighting candles on the menorah each night, reciting special prayers, and eating delicious foods. Happy Hanukkah!

Upcoming Dates

School Closed Thursday, November 25 through Monday, November 29

Family Conferences - December 9 and 10 - Early Dismissal for Students at 1 p.m.

Turkey Bowl 2021

This morning, our fifth graders played in the annual Turkey Bowl as a reward for meeting their reading challenge. Each class set a goal to read 50 books in the past month, for a total of 250 books. Our fifth graders far exceeded that goal by reading 600 books!

At the high school stadium today, the fifth graders participated in a round robin tournament. Mr. Moore's class and Ms. Milardo's class advanced to the final round. Congratulations to the students in Mr. Moore's class for winning the championship trophy!

Holiday Shop 2021

The Holiday Shop at Simmons Elementary School will have a new look this year! We will offer families the opportunity to shop on Saturday, December 4th, in the cafeteria from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Adult family members can shop with their child or, if you want to keep the gifts as a holiday surprise, children can safely shop by themselves with the help of our volunteers.

If families aren't able to come on Saturday, December 4th, we will have limited shopping hours available for students on Monday, December 6th, during the school day.

Stay tuned for more information about Holiday Shop 2021 from our Home and School Association after the Thanksgiving break.
