Patriotic Observance
The Clean Water Act became law on October 18, 1972. After centuries of reckless treatment of American rivers, streams, lakes and bays, the landmark act institutes strict regulations on pollution and quality controls for the nation’s waters for the first time in its history. Source

AGHS has more availability for attendees. Tickets can be purchased on Monday at lunch until Wednesday at 3:30PM after school in the Student Business Office (SBO). Tickets can also be purchased on the AGHS Webstore.
Cost: $15 with ASB and $20 without
Guest Passes: print here or pick up at the SBO or at the AGHS main office front desk. Guest passes must be turned in by Wednesday at 3:30 to the SBO.
Reminder that this is a semi-formal event (ties, dress pants, dresses, pant suits)

Homecoming - Dancing Through the Decades
Monday-Future Day - Dress up in either a college/military t-shirt OR go all in wearing something that represents your dream career/job. Monday’s LTA-Ramen Eating.
Tuesday-90's Day - Dress up in jeans and flannel OR go all in with 90’s attire (Some common items of clothing from the 1990s: black leggings with oversized sweater, low heel shoes, sweatpants, skirts, solid colors, silk shirts, turtlenecks under cardigans or sweaters, plain white Keds and army surplus).Tuesday’s LTA-Dress Up Relay
Wednesday-80's Day - Dress up in neon OR go all in with 80’s (some looks that were in were big hair, mullets, spandex, ripped knees, fanny packs, lacey shirts, polo shirts with collar flipped up, leg warmers, high waisted & acid wash jeans). Wednesday’s LTA-Basketball Knockout
Thursday-Grease or Greece Day - 50’s day or Toga - Dress up wearing either pink or white shirt/jeans OR go all in with 50’s (examples: poodle skirts, pony tails, neck scarves, rolled up jeans, white T’s, leather jackets) or toga, greek god or goddess. Thursday LTA-Chariot Race
Friday-Forever Blue & Gold Day - Dress up wearing your Blue Zoo t-shirt OR go all in wearing blue and gold from head to toe! Friday Rally in the stadium w/ LTA-Staff/Students Dodgeball Game
OCTOBER DEADLINE: October 29, 2021ELKS TEENAGER OF THE MONTH SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION The Oceano/Five Cities Elks Lodge #2504 selects an AGHS senior male and female each month based on achievements, character, leadership, service, citizenship and scholastics. The Teenager of the Month will be recognized at an Elk’s dinner and will then be eligible for selection of "Teenager of the Year". At the end of April, we have a panel of Elks Members judge the Student of the Month Applications. From this pool, we will select one male and one female who will each receive a college scholarship. Go to the AGHS Website under scholarships for more information or stop by the Career Center.
Completed application should be submitted to Brianna.boyd@lmusd.org. Students only need to apply once. If your application is not chosen in a given month, it will be considered for the following month. | Congratulations to the 2021 Homecoming Court! Homecoming festivities will begin Friday, at 6PM with the class floats. Crowning and fireworks will be at the JV Football game during halftime. Game time is 7PM! See you there! |

Homecoming Adventure Guidelines
- Must have school ID to enter
- Check in by 8:30PM
- Semi-Formal Event - dress pants with collared shirt and tie, dress or pantsuit. AGHS recommends flat shoes or clean tennis shoes to avoid injury. Shoes must be worn at all times.
- Follow all school rules
- Be in Good Standing (grades, attendance & behavior)
- Dance appropriately

Club Meeting Notices & Announcements
Are you interested in becoming a lawyer or do you enjoy acting? Mock trial club meets this week on Tuesday and Thursday in room 309 after school. Come join the fun, and gain a valuable skill for college applications.

Athletics Announcements
- It’s Senior Night for three senior athletic teams this week. Come out this Wednesday afternoon and celebrate our 14 seniors on the boys and girls water polo teams and Thursday night for our girls volleyball team.
- Mandatory Baseball Meeting Tuesday 10/19 After School. Attention all baseball players interested in playing baseball this coming season. There is a mandatory meeting Tuesday 10/19 after school at the Varsity baseball field. If you can’t make it, please see Coach Silveira.

- Girl's JV and Varsity Soccer Tryouts begin Monday October 25th- Thurs October 28th from 5:30-7:00pm on the practice field by the 900 Wing. See you there!
- Top of the Soccer Season Players: There will be an organizational meeting this Wednesday for Boys Soccer. The meeting will be 12:15 during Lunch period.

Here are some changes to our homecoming football games that have been affected due to the impacts of COVID. AGHS has worked to best accommodate all involved with the smallest effect on the HoCo festivities as possible. Please see the changes below:
- Friday, 10/22 - JV Football game vs Nipomo HS @ 7pm with homecoming halftime activities
- Saturday, 10/23 - Varsity Football game vs Nipomo HS @ 11am

Submitting your community service hours
The Google Form for Community Service Hours is used for the graduation requirement of 20 hours. Any hours in addition to your graduation requirement should be submitted on the Give Back 250 Google Classroom with Mr. Hurtado.

State Seal Of Biliteracy
Dear Seniors;
If you have met the criteria to receive the early certification for the CA Seal of Biliteracy 2021-2022, you can apply now. This will allow you to include this language certification in your scholarships and college applications during the Fall semester.
The criteria for proficiency in a language other than English is one of the following:
- Passing a World Language Advanced Placement examination with a score of 3 or higher.
- Passing an International Baccalaureate examination with a score of 4 or higher.
- Successful completion of a four-year high school course of study in a world language and attaining an overall grade point average of 3.0 or above. (Passing AP Spanish or equivalent with a grade of B or better)
- Passing a school district approved language exam that, at a minimum, assesses speaking, reading and writing passing at a proficient level or higher.
- Passing the SAT II world language examination with a score of 600 or higher.

A code will then be emailed to you to verify identity.
Choose My Portrait, select and crop an appropriate portrait photo, then submit!Yearbook submission details: The yearbook staff reserves the right to reject any photo that does not accurately represent the student identified, does not follow proper student dress code and/or does not meet publications standards. You may use your cell phone, see a local photographer, or reach out to Mr. Clarke in room 801 to take your senior photo.
