Dear Families,

We have about four weeks of school remaining for this very different year and we plan to make the most of it. We had our dance party, which was a lot of fun and we have some upcoming events to congratulate the Kindergartners, 5th and 8th grade students who are moving up, moving on, or graduating. I have to say, I have missed having families and events going on. I am really looking forward to next year, so that we can do more events and activities with our family and staff. Continue to check emails and our websites for updated information for the remainder of the year and through the summer.

Continue to stay safe and well!

IB PYP Exhibition June 16th

For our IB PYP program we have an exhibition for our 5th grade students and families. This is a culminating collaborative experience in the final year of the IB Primary Years Programme. Students will explore, document, and share their understanding of an issue or opportunity of personal significance.

Topic for 2021: Share the Planet

Central Idea: Living things adapt to change and conflict in order to survive in their environment, and human rights and responsibilities to these changes.

More information about the actual even will come from the classroom teachers directly.

Staff Member Recognition

We would like to highlight some staff members for their continued positivity, being team players, and exemplifying what Franklin Academy stands for:

Ms. Kumari Williams - 4th grade teacher

Ms. Kayla Gonzalez - Kindergarten teacher

Mrs. Atway - Middle School science teacher

Mr. O'Brien - Middle School music teacher

Congratulations to these wonderful staff members. Each person on our staff are deserving of this recognition, as it takes everyone to make our students successful. I appreciate all of our staff and their continued dedication to our school, our students and families.

As the year comes to an end, I would really appreciate if you could take some time to fill out this form to recognize specific staff members for their contribution to your student's success at Franklin Academy this year. I will share the comments with the staff at our end of year celebration.

Special Shout Out

I want to take a moment to give a special shout out to our ESE department. The 3 ESE teachers have done a great job this year with meeting the needs of our ESE population of students and they deserve recognition. Mrs. Georgopolus, Mr. Verdaguer, and Mr. Stone work tirelessly to ensure our students have all the support they need and more.

The department is led by Mrs. Principe. Mrs. Principe came to Franklin Academy shortly after I started here in 2014. She has taken on several roles in teaching, leadership, Student Council and this year she added yearbook, in her spare time. She has settled in as the ESE Coordinator for the past two years and she runs her department like a well oiled machine. She leads the ESE staff which includes ESE teachers, Gifted and really all the teachers who serve any ESE student. Mrs. Principe is an integral part of the Franklin Academy community and we are so appreciative of all that she does for the students, staff and families of Franklin Academy.
