Holiday Spirit Week

Families as we prepare for winter break next week, we want scholars to enjoy the last week of school!!



  • On Wednesday 12/14/2022 Scholars may wear their favorite holiday shirt, they must still be in uniform bottoms
  • On Thursday 12/15/2022 Scholars may wear an Ugly Christmas Sweater, they must still be in uniform bottoms
  • On Friday 12/16/2022 Scholars can wear their favorite holiday pajamas. Friday is a half day we will dismiss at 1:00pm!!



Please remember any scholars that are not participating must still be in their respective uniform colors, and absolutely NO CROCS, SANDALS, OR HOUSESHOES.

Recess is a Go!!

Parents the weather is getting colder, please keep in mind if the temperature is 32 degrees (real feel) and above teachers are able to take scholars outside. The admin team do look at the weather day by day and will make a decision on whether scholars will go outside. Please make sure you send your scholars in with hats and gloves as we do not know what the day holds. As always the leadership team at PLA 48 will make the best decision for our scholars so that we can make sure everyone is safe and not getting sick.

Stay Home

If your scholar is feeling sick PLEASE KEEP THEM HOME!! Call the front office at 317-226-4248, TEXT Ms. Wallace 317-721-6027 or email Ms. Wallace at cawallace@phalenacademies.org. We can not excuse the absence if you do not call and speak with the Front Office Manager. We will excuse the FIRST DAY ONLY FOR THAT WEEK, anything past the first day will need a doctor's note.

YMCA Christmas Giveaway!!

There is a walk-in Christmas program happening 12/17 for families. The details are below:

No Food Deliveries

We have had a sudden increase in food deliveries for scholars for lunch. Food Deliveries via Door Dash, GrubHub, UberEats, or from parents are no longer allowed at PLA 48 for scholars. If you would like to come up and eat lunch with your scholar that is fine, however you will need to call the front office in advance and clear it with our Front Office Manager Ms. Wallace.


We can make accommdations for special occasions such as birthdays or to reward good behavior, however again it will need to be cleard by the front office staff in advance.

Visitor Log-In

Starting on Monday December 5th, 2022 all guest entering PLA 48 will need their ID to come into the building, if they plan to go past the front office during school hours. As always PLA 48 are looking for ways to better protect our families in our building and with our new Ident•A•Kid system it helps us to do that. The visitor sticker that is provided to you will need to be placed on you at all times while in our building.

PLA 48 2ND ANNUAL CHRISTMAS AROUND THE WORLD WILL BE ON THURSDAY 12/15/2022 FROM 5:00-6:00 PM!! COME OUT AND SEE HOW OTHERS AROUND THE WORLD CELEBRATE THIS HOLIDAY SEASON!!

WINTER BREAK IS COMING!!

Parents and Guardians we are on our last 4.5 school days until Winter Break. The days in Blue & Yellow on the Calendar below are the days we are out of school. Friday December 16th is a half day, scholars will dismiss at 1pm. There is no school from Monday December 19th until Tuesday January 3rd 2023!! Scholars return to school on Wednesday January 4th!!


Friday January 13th is the end of the Grading Period!!

Winter Attire

Parents as we get into the colder months please be advised that scholars are not permitted to wear hoodies and jackets during the school day. They are welcomed to wear solid sweaters that is Red, Black, White, or Gray. If you have any questions please call the school and speak with Ms. Wallace.

Tab Tutoring!

Tab Tutoring is back in full affect!! If you have a scholar in grades 1st-6th that you would like to be involved in tutoring please let the front office know and we will get the forms to your scholars to bring home!! Tutoring is on Thursdays until 5:15pm, scholars will have to be picked up from Tabernacle Church across the street from the school.

Butler College Mentor is on Winter Break!!

Butler College Mentor is on Winter Break, they will start back up after Winter Break either late January or early February. More information will come as it is available.

Parents, family members, and neighbors of our scholars can apply to PLA University for training in high-demand careers like Medical Assistant, Dental Assistant, Pharmacy Technician, Phlebotomist, Entrepreneur, and more! Reminders

Parents/Guardians that have scholars that ride the bus to school please keep in mind that transportation ask that your scholars be on the bus stop 10 minutes before AND after your stop time. Please be sure to download the First View app so that you can track your scholars bus


Parents and visitors that come to the building will not be allowed into the office unless it is necessary. If you are picking up your scholar from school early or dropping off your scholar late Ms. Wallace will talk with you through the speaker box and then will buzz you in to wait in the Atrium. There will be a binder where you can sign the appropriate sheet. If you are picking up we will call your scholar down and they will meet you in the Atrium, if you are dropping them off then you may sign them in and then leave and we will make sure your scholar gets to the right location. We are trying to keep all scholars and families safe. We appreciate your cooperation.


School start at 8:50, scholars that are tardy will not be permitted into the building after 10:45am, unless it is due to a doctor appointment and you have to call the front office before 9:30am to let the school know. Parents also remember that you are required to come in and sign your late scholar in for the day in order for them to be marked tardy.


If you need to change how your scholar is getting home please make sure you call the school before 2:30pm, we can not make any changes after that time.


Parents that are picking up their scholars must be here before 3:15pm we will not dismiss schoalrs after 3:15 as we have already started our dismissal process for the day.
