Dear Families,
I hope you’ve had the chance to read Superintendent Crozier’s message this week, which included lots of information on our full, in-person return to school beginning on April 5, 2021. If not, please grab a coffee, and settle in for a lot of critical information right here. PLEASE be sure to click on the link for the Family Designation Form to identify whether your child will be attending school in person or remotely 5 days/week starting on April 5. We need to know this by March 10th.
School Committee Meeting on Monday, March 8
The district and school administration team will present information about Phase 2: Full In-Person Learning at the School Committee on Monday night at 7 p.m. So much is ever-changing this year and this is a great opportunity to know the most current information regarding our learning models starting on April 5. Additionally, it is important to understand what these changes mean to our families choosing remote learning. Please know that remote learning will look considerably different starting April 5. Classes with remote learners will be “live streaming” the classroom lessons. We are getting additional technology to help with this, as well as some personnel support for our hybrid/remote teachers. We do hope that as many students as possible elect the “in-person” model.
March 12 PD Day Changed to April 1
The district has moved the scheduled Professional Development Day of March 12 to April 1 instead to give us time for preparation for the full return. This means that Cohort B and C students will attend in person on March 12 and Cohort A will be remote, like we normally do on Fridays so far this year. There will be no school for students on Thursday, April 1, for the PD day. Also, there is no school on Friday, April 2, for Good Friday.
Parent Conferences
The teachers look forward to meeting with you this month for parent conferences. The focus of these meetings is your child’s progress. Please know that teachers cannot take requests regarding class placement for next year. Honestly, we are so focused on the full-return that we cannot even think about class placement right now, so thank you for not even bringing it up.
Pool Testing
We are thrilled that this week’s results were all negative (although we did have one positive case this week, this student does not participate in pool testing). We currently have almost 70% of our students participating in pool testing, as well as the majority of staff. We will continue doing free, weekly pool testing on Mondays and Tuesdays for all who have registered with results expected within 24-48 hours. It’s not too late to register your child to participate and we’d love to have as many as possible on board.
Click here to give permission for your child(ren) to participate in pool testing.
Warmly,
Annette Doyle
