2018-2019 Weekly Memo
IT IS GRATITUDE MONTH!!!
HAPPY VETERANS DAY!
A MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR...
This month is gratitude month and I am so grateful to be the Director here and to have been given the opportunity to help make a difference in your scholars future, in the future of this country, and to assist in changing lives forever. Parents, this week and every day moving forward at Uplift Hampton Middle School will be about changing the trajectory of our scholars futures. As I sit and I type this message, I think about all of the faces that we will see on Monday morning, all of the experiences that may have transpired over the weekend both positive and constructive, and I am optimistic about the possibility for each of your children-my scholars, future. This week and everyday for the rest of this school year, I solicit your support to help us make a difference in the lives of our youth. Be more active, get involved, and I am certain that we will see our scholars failing forward and learning, approaching problems with optimism, and questioning the status quo in order to get exactly what they need to be successful. Parents, I need you and your scholars do too. Help us to help them.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Andrea Anderson-Parks
Middle School Director

A MESSAGE FROM THE SOCIAL COUNSELOR...
Greetings Hampton Family!
I hope you are well. This week I have had the pleasure of speaking with your 6th and 8th graders about building resiliency skills. Your scholars were so reflective and were able to make real world connections on ways to be resilient.
Also, next Thursday, November 15th at 6:00pm is our monthly VIP meeting. We encourage you to come out and learn about our campus initiatives. Kiah Wesson, the high school Social Counselor, and I will be discussing Uplift’s bullying procedures as this month is Uplift’s Bullying Awareness month.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Best,
Mrs. Jackson
Social Behavioral Counselor

7TH & 8TH GRADE PARENTS- MOMENTOUS INSTITUTE ARE LEADERS IN THE COMMUNITY!
We recognize that you may be wondering about the program. Momentous Institute says...
§ Momentous Institute is partnering with Uplift Hampton Preparatory this year to deliver a program aimed at improving middle school students’ social and emotional health which ultimately improves academic achievement.
§ Our program focuses on developing children’s skills in self-control, communication, problem-solving, respect for self and others, and mindfulness. We do all of this in an engaging and safe way that kids and teachers love, in your child’s classroom, integrated into classroom content.
§ Momentous Institute would like to have your child complete surveys and computer games that let us know if the program is effective.
§ All of the information you, your child, and the teachers provide is confidential and private. We will not share or publish individual data. The combined data may be presented at conferences or in published articles, but you and your child will never be identified as participants, and we do not name Uplift Hampton as a research site.
§ We hope that you will consider taking part in this study. Your child’s participation will help us to provide the best programming possible for middle school students in the future!
