According to the U.S Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 655 square miles, located in the Northeastern Coastal Plain, it is truly a wonderful place.

Pitt County compromises the Greenville, NC Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Our county seat is Greenville. Our neighboring county's: Martin County, Beaufort County, Craven County, Lenoir County, Greene County, Wilson County, and Edgecombe County.

History

The County was founded in 1760 from Beaufort County, it was named after William Pitt the Elder. He was born in London, England, he was the secretary for the Southern Department.

Pitt County

The Pitt County Board of Commissioners is made up of nine elected members. The County's Manager is D. Scott Elliot he has oversight over all hiring and firing all county employees.


Tourist Attractions

  • Pitt County Community College is a two year college and is located not far from East Carolina at all.
  • My favorite tourist attraction in the County is the Zone. The Zone is a recreation center and is home to the baseball facility, Gym, and arcade of Pitt County.

City of Greenville.

Greenville, has six members on the City Council. The City manager is Barbara Lipscomb. The Mayor is Allen M. Thomas. The major tourist attraction in Greenville is its highly known College, East Carolina University. It is the third largest College in North Carolina.
