A Message from Ms. Hanna
Dear Erskine Families,
What a great first week of conferences! Conferences are such a great opportunity to connect with your child's teacher, hear about what they are learning and set goals for the school year. We will wrap up conferences next week. If you still need to set a time with your child's teacher, please reach out to them or to Kaitlin in the Main Office. We are happy to help! Our goal is to meet with 100% of our families.
This week you also received a Campus Messenger from me to complete the Handbook Verification. If you have completed this already, thank you! If you still need to complete it, here is the link. By completing this survey, you are acknowledging receipt of the handbook and that you have reviewed it. Thank you for helping us reach 100% of this.
I look forward to another great week of learning and spending time with your child.
As always, please reach out with any questions, feedback or celebrations.

Our Erskine Way Norms
At Erskine we work hard to create a safe and comfortable learning environment for our students and staff. When we are doing things #theErskineWay we are Mindful, Determined, Kind, Responsible, Hard-Working, Safe and Respectful. These are our norms or standards.
Each month this year we will have a focus norm. In October Mrs. Hall's counseling lesson will focus on being Safe. Each classroom will create a Safe Spot for students to use if/when they become dysregulated, stressed or upset. The goal of the classroom Safe Spots is to provide a space where students can take five to get their body and mind calm so they can continue to focus and learn.
Police Pal
This week we had police pal, Officer Sean visit all of our classrooms. He was even able to sneak in some time at recess with kids.
Here are the topics covered by grade-level:
- Kindergarten - Introduction to a Police Officer
- 1st Grade- 911, Home Alone, Walk to and from School
- 2nd Grade-Dangerous Strangers
- 3rd Grade - Bullying
- 4th Grade- Shoplifting
- 5th Grade- Internet Safety

Hy-Vee Receipts
Did you know that Erskine gets money just for saving Hy-Vee receipts?
Actually, a lot of our playground equipment and schoolwide celebrations were paid for in part with money we have received from the Hy-Vee Cash For Students Program.
If you shop at Hy-Vee, save your receipts and turn them into the school. You can just have your child bring it to their classroom. If you get an email receipt, forward it to the school ( daretz@crschools.us).
Receipts from all Hy-Vee purchases including Aisles Online, Hy-Vee Gas, Hy-Chi, groceries, bakery, deli and even Caribou and Starbucks in Hy-Vee locations count towards our receipt totals. We turn them in at the end of the school year and we get a check from Hy-Vee.
Our classrooms will be competing in a monthly challenge to get the most receipts in their classroom. The winning classroom each month gets an extra recess and a treat.
All you have to do is shop at Hy-Vee and save your receipts. Ask your friends, family and neighbors to do the same.
Thanks for helping us earn money for the school!
