A Message from Principal Choquette
Good morning, I hope you are all enjoying this warm weekend. The weather is only getting warmer over the next couple of days, so please make sure your children are dressed appropriately for the weather and have water bottles. I know there is concern about the heat. Tomorrow we are supposed to be getting two large mister fans for the tents. Teachers are able to sign out the tents for cooling breaks for their classes. Students do not need to wear their masks under the tent because tables are set 6 feet apart. However, they do need to wear them during recesses because of close contact. I encourage all students to step away from play every once in a while to take a mask break. Also, teachers will be signing out the library for cooling breaks during the day as the library has air conditioning. Teachers can also take students outside to shaded areas for instruction.
As we do every year, we have some faculty/staff to say good-bye to. Samantha Young, who is a paraprofessional that came over from Leeds to help support out students during this past year, will be going back to Leeds. She has been a wonderful addition to our school and staff and we thank her for her support and care of our students. Anne Ross, preschool paraprofessional, is retiring. Anne has done so much for our preschool students and has been a wonderful asset to our school. We wish her all the best in her retirement! Finally, Laila Copperansky, long-term 2nd grade substitute teacher for Laura Nagle, will be leaving us as well. Laila is a young and very talented teacher. We have been so lucky to have a teacher who cares so much about her students, is dedicated and hard working, and someone who is respected by her colleagues and caregivers. She will be missed. I know you all join me in wishing them the best as they move on from Bridge Street School.
It's hard to believe that next week will be my last weekly of the year. It's been a challenging year for sure, but we never could have done it without all of you and your ongoing support. I knew we could get through this if we had a little patience and worked together and we did. Thank you so much for all that you have done and continue to do for all of us at BSS. Have a wonderful week!
