Center Middle School Update
One Plastic Bag
Did you know that worldwide a trillion single-use plastic bags are used each year? That's nearly two million each minute! Sandy Bauer and third grade students at Hazel Grove Elementary and Underwood Elementary (Lee's Summit Schools), enjoyed the Great Kids Can Read nominee, One Plastic Bag: Isatou Ceesay and the Recycling Women of the Gambia. From the story students learned that Isatou turned old plastic bags into new purses. They learned how to produce their own "goods" by turning their plastic bags into jump ropes! Don't forget to have your students vote for their favorite GKCR nominee!
