As January ends and February begins, we turn the page to a new month in the year. We are seeing a ton of energy coming from all corners of the school and everyone is working hard to ensure our kids are prepared for their end of year assessments and the next grade level. There's no doubt about it, we've got a lot of heart and commitment here at Cigarroa!

Here is important information for this week:

In the event you did not yet send out all of your 4th Six Weeks Progress Reports, these should be sent home as soon as possible. All students, especially those in danger of failing the marking period, should receive a progress report. Please keep in communication with Jennifer Mathai regarding any students that are on her caseload. If you need assistance with printing progress reports, please ask a peer or consult with any CIC or administrator.

The Dallas ISD Board of Trustees recently approved the proposed policy with regards to recess. I spoke to everyone about this at the beginning of professional development, but in the event you did not catch the news, it is official! We already have recess here at Cigarroa, but please remember that recess should remain unstructured and discipline-free.

This is a special message from Christina Golden:

"For those in the Cigarroa family who didn't yet hear the good news, we received a foster placement of a little girl, so I will be out for a while on family leave!" Christina will be out for a bit but I know that she has worked diligently to build our capacity during her planned absence while she builds her family! We wish her family all the best!

Don't forget that the special "We love Cigarroa!" gift everyone received for the month of February begins Monday, February 1. Should you choose to participate, please make sure that you visibly wear your heart which includes a reason why you love Cigarroa. Participants should wear a new heart every day and everyone should give their hearts to Mrs. Flores at the end of each day.

Have a great start to February!
