Mrs. Bearden's Weekly Update
December 4, 2022
Dear Eagle Canyon Families,
Last Friday night, four teams from our Eagle Canyon Debate Team participated in their first debate tournament at Edwin Rhodes Elementary. Three of our students earned a top 10 recognition for being the best speakers. I was very proud of our students. This was Eagle Canyon's first time competing since 2019-20, so for the students, this was their first time competing. We will compete in two more tournaments throughout the year.
This week, our band and choir students will perform in a winter concert on Tuesday evening. I am excited about this event because it is something I have wanted to do for our students since the beginning of my tenure at Eagle Canyon. I love highlighting our students' talents. If you are free on Tuesday evening, the concert will begin at 6:30 p.m.
MANDARIN BILINGUAL CLERK
Eagle Canyon will hire a bilingual clerk to work 3.5 hours per day. If you can read and write in Mandarin and would like to work for CVUSD, be on the lookout for the Edjoin.com posting for a bilingual clerk position.
TARDY STUDENTS
As a reminder, students can go to the amphitheater or eat breakfast in the MPR at 7:20 am. Students who arrive after 7:50 am are considered tardy. Please plan to arrive early to avoid missing out on daily instruction. Traffic from 7:35 - 7:45 a.m. is pretty light, so you may want to try to arrive around this time.
Thank you for your continued support,
Mrs. Bearden

The Eagle Canyon PTA is excited to host the Holiday Boutique once again. This event is successful thanks to the parent volunteers who help the students. Please consider signing up.

TRAFFIC CONCERNS
I continue to receive reports that cars are not waiting in line on Chino Avenue to turn right onto Eagle Canyon Drive. Instead, they are cutting in front of cars to make a right from the outer lane. This action caused an accident in the past and could have resulted in serious injury.
Additionally, I am noticing more and more cars making a U-Turn in front of the school. There are signs in front of the school to let people know we are not allowed to make U-Turns. This creates an unsafe situation for cars driving in front of the school.
Finally, people are not crossing Eagle Canyon Drive at the crosswalks. Not only is your safety our concern, but traffic gets held up while cars are waiting for the people to cross. Please keep yourself and your children safe by utilizing the crosswalks with our crossing guards.
We must work together to ensure 700 people arrive and dismiss Eagle Canyon safely on a daily basis. Please follow all traffic rules, plan your route so you can get to school without any concern for the time, and treat each other with respect.
For your planning purposes, we do open the gate at 7:20 a.m. to the students. Ms. Beatrice takes the students into the amphitheater until the 7:40 bell rings. Then the teachers are on duty until the 7:47 a.m. bell rings which is the signal for all students to go to class.
I know schedules are tight and morning routines can be hectic. Practicing safe habits with your children will teach them how to be safe when you are not around.
Visit our Eagle Canyon website to report absences online.
