HSE Redistricting Update
Here is the latest update on the Hamilton Southeastern Schools Redistricting process...
On December 4, the plan was posted on HSE’s Web Site, http://www.hse.k12.in.us/ADM/home.aspx , along with a short survey. Your input is vital as we approach the final stages of the process. The following meetings are open to any member of the community seeking additional information on the HSE “Preferred Redistricting Plan”:
- On Monday, December 8th at 7:00 p.m. at Fishers Junior High School the Board will have a Board Meeting/Work Session. This will be the Board’s opportunity to understand the details of the plan. This meeting is informational only with no public comment.
- On Wednesday, December 10th at 7:00 p.m. at Fishers High School, Café “A” the Board will conduct a public hearing on the proposed redistricting plan. The public will be invited to make comments on the plan in accordance with the Board rules for making public comments.
- On Monday, December 15th at 7:00 p.m. at Fishers Junior High School, the Board will be presented the final “Preferred Redistricting Plan” for vote.
Come to the MATH Bowl Try-Outs!
MATH Bowl team try-outs will be held from 8:00-8:45 a.m. on Thursday, December 11, and Friday, December 12.
All fourth-graders are invited to meet Mr. Anders at the front entrance on either day. You do not need to attend both days. On each of these days, you will discuss what MATH Bowl is, and students will take a test. Selection will be based on the results of the test.
All participants will be notified if they made the team the following week. The BSE MATH Bowl team will participate in an invitational contest on February 4, and the state contest on February 26. Both competitions will be held at Fall Creek Intermediate School.

Dads Read in the Classroom Again
Our second Dads Read in the Classroom is coming up on Friday, December 12! Please see the message below with instructions on how to sign up for this special event from the chairperson of the Dad's Club, Kyle Hultgren!

Classroom Winter Parties Coming Up!
Classroom Winter Parties are coming up at Brooks School Elementary on Friday, December 19, the last day of classes before HSE Winter Break!
Parties for Kindergarten and Grade 1 will be from 10:00-10:45 a.m., and Grades 2, 3, and 4 will be from 2:00-2:45 p.m.
Winter Break for students in HSE schools is December 20 through January 5. Classes will resume January 6.
December Parents Night Out Moved
THE DECEMBER PARENTS NIGHT OUT/MOVIE NIGHT HAS BEEN MOVED TO JANUARY 23!
Not only is the event moving, but it is also EXTENDED! We will be offering an extended evening, complete with a movie and Winter Wonderland Fitness fun with Mrs. Schwoeppe!

Book Rental Fees Can Still be Paid on Skyward
Book rental fees can still be paid on Skyward! If you prefer to write a check for payment, you may bring it in to the BSE office.
At this time, a $7.50 late fee is due in addition to the book fees; please be sure to add this to your payment.
FJH Cheerleaders Host Clinic
Fishers Junior High invites students in Grades K-4 to attend the 4th Annual FJH Cheerleading Clinic, hosted by the 7th- and 8th-grade Charger Cheerleaders, from 4:00-6:40 p.m. on Tuesday, December 16! Participants will have the opportunity to learn cheerleading basics, along with a few chants and a cheer or two.
Details are included on the registration form, which can be found on the FJH Athletics Cheerleading link http://www.hse.k12.in.us/FJH/athletics/cheerleading/ along with a required waiver form.
Participants will experience the sideline while cheering for the 7th-grade boys’ basketball game vs. Highland. The evening will culminate with the participants performing what they have learned for all of the fans at halftime.

Annual Celebration of Lights Adds New Twist
Community invited for musical entertainment and festivities to kick off the holiday season
Jump-start the holiday season with Fishers Parks & Recreation during the Celebration of Lights! Bundle up and stop by the Nickel Plate District on Friday, December 5, from 6:30 until 7:30 p.m. as we light the community holiday tree. This Fishers tradition offers holiday celebrations, light concessions and a story from Santa Claus himself.
Arrive early to catch a special guest appearance by Lauren Lowrey with Ashton Wolf, and stick around for a performance by the Fishers High School Choir. Little ones joining in on the fun? The more the merrier! Children can enjoy visiting with reindeer, stopping by local business booths, and enjoying hot chocolate and cookies while Santa Claus reads The Night Before Christmas.
Plan to attend the Celebration of Lights and begin the holiday season with friends and family right here in our community. Bundle up, invite a few neighbors and plan to spend the evening in the Nickel Plate District. The Celebration of Lights is a Fishers family tradition that little ones will remember for years to come. Concessions will be available on a first come, first served basis.

Bricks for Kids

Bricks 4 Kidz classes provide an extraordinary atmosphere for children, where we learn, we build, we play… with LEGO® bricks. Programs are built around our proprietary model plans, designed by engineers and architects, with exciting themes such as space, construction, and amusement parks. Our specially designed project kits and theme-based models provide the building blocks for the Bricks 4 Kidz approach to educational play. At Bricks 4 Kidz, we believe that kids learn best through activities that engage their curiosity and creativity. LEGO® kits will be provided.
Fisher’s Paws and Read
Saturday, December 13, 12:00 p.m.
For all ages. No registration required. Would you like to read to a dog or just pet a dog and get doggie kisses? Love on a Leash will have local volunteers here with their registered therapy dogs. Reading to dogs helps kids build self-esteem and confidence.

‘Tis the season for holiday fun! Our annual holiday event is back and better than ever! Jingle your way to the library at 6 p.m. if you want to meet Santa, decorate cookies, and get creative in the elves’ workshop. At 7 p.m., we’re going to have a real reindeer visiting us from Silly Safaris!

Fishers-HSE Boys Lacrosse – Join the boys lacrosse league for an afternoon with one of its hometown lacrosse heroes, Garret Holst! On Sunday, December 7, from 3:00-5:00 p.m. at the Delaware Township Building, 9090 E 131st Street in Fishers, come and hang with Garret. He will share his HSE High School lacrosse experience and his transition to playing D1 at the University of Denver. There will be tons of swag, lacrosse trivia prizes and autographs. All high school and youth players are welcome and encouraged to attend! Don’t miss this opportunity to come out and hang with the lax bros of Fishers and meet Garret!
A Boys Youth Lacrosse Parent Call-Out Meeting will be held on December 15, at the S.P.O.R.T.S. building at Billericay Park from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Those interested in trying out for the 2015, 5th/6th or 7th/8th travel teams should attend at 6:30 p.m., and those 3rd-8th graders interested in playing rec should attend at 7:30 p.m.
Stick Skills Training will take place during January and February. This is a great opportunity for new players to improve their skills. For additional details or to register, visit www.hselax.com under the LAX Resources tab.
Spring 2015 Registration for baseball, softball, soccer, boys and girls lacrosse, rugby and track and field will take place during the month of January. Online registration will open on January 1. The registration forms will be available on the S.P.O.R.T.S. website, at all HSE schools (after January 6), the Fishers Library and the S.P.O.R.T.S office. Parents who register with a paper registration form will need to submit the form with check or cash payment. Credit cards are not taken in the office. Parents registering online can pay online with a credit card or can print the form and submit it to the S.P.O.R.T.S. office with check or cash payment.

On Wednesday, December 10 and Thursday, December 11, everyone’s favorite jolly old fellow will be at Town Hall from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Pictures with Santa is free for residents of all ages to attend, and families are encouraged to arrive early for this popular program. Children will head upstairs to sit with Santa in his sleigh and share their most precious Christmas wishes.
Fishers Parks & Recreation strives to host diverse programming for the community to enjoy. Not only will families get to enjoy the event, but they will have a lasting memory for years to come. Participants can create as many cards as they would like that will later be distributed to local nursing homes and living communities throughout Fishers. This event is free to attend; however, registration is required by December 11 so that Fishers Parks & Recreation can provide enough materials for everyone! Decorating stations will feature glitter, stickers and scrapbook paper to ensure participants can get as creative as possible.

On Saturday, December 13, families of all ages are invited to Roy G. Holland Memorial Park from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. Not only will participants get to dine with the Grinch, but children will be able to complete a craft they can keep for years to come. While dining on Grinch fingers, Cindy-Lou’s sausage and Green Eggs and Ham, children will get to visit and take pictures with the Grinch.
Registration for this program is per person and costs residents $12 and nonresidents $18. Secure your spot before December 5, as registration for this program goes quickly.

Hunt for Candy Canes at Billericay Park
Register now for a special winter hunt with a chance to win candy prizes!
Don’t let the snowy season keep you indoors; join Fishers Parks & Recreation for our annual Candy Cane Hunt! On Tuesday, December 16, children ages 6-10 are invited to Billericay Park for a fun holiday twist.
Candy canes will be scattered around Billericay Park and when everyone is released, they can hunt and collect as many as possible! Not only will children be on the lookout for candy canes, but a few pieces of prize candy will be hidden among the bunch. After the hunt is over, families can warm up with hot cocoa, cookies and a craft in the Billericay Park Building.
Parents are encouraged to pack a bag so that their children can collect their candy canes during the event.
